Payton does some stuff well but it's a bad fit. If you have young guys who can play, and we do, they should play. Most teams sign vets even if they're young. But I don't think you can play Elfrid much or trade him.

Randle can be traded.

I dont think they would cut him...But I do think there were opportunities and our price is too high or they were not looking hard enough...or maybe just wanted to keep him. Oh well.

I would agree with that.

Randle and Rivers for Hardaway and WCS. Who says no?

Sure I'd take Timmy back, but only as a bench player. He's sort of a mini-Randle, but better with less dribbling, minus the spin moves and turnovers. He can at least play off the ball as a catch and shoot guy. Could be a decent sixth man.

WCS would be an upgrade over Noel

If they could trade Randle, they probably would have done it this off-season already. Leon Rose in no way could see Randle as a building block and I don't think Thibs is that dumb to lobby to keep him.

Again, I'm feeling bad about Perry because of Randle and Payton. He is still GM after all so he does have Rose's ear.

Timmy's more of a mini-Morris imo.

Dipo is mini-Randle.

Either way, as a bench sixth man he would be acceptable. As a starter, a firm NO

I think if you played him with the kids off the bench he'd be fine since they're all threats to shoot but with the starters it's just ugly.

We hadn't seen the part with RJ and Frank. Not surprising at all. Those guys must despise playing with Randle (and Payton too).

Charlotte for Terry Rozier.

With 2021 FA paper-thin, are we ready to take on salary on a player who would clearly be an upgrade and a very tradable expiring next year in the event a disgruntled star becomes available?

He’s 26 and would be our best PG since Marbury.

What makes you think MJ would want Randle? I don't see why

He doesn't like playing with that starting lineup

He was looking at Thibs like a kid looking at his parent to give him the ok to go outside and play with his friends when the young players were out there having fun in the 4th quarter. Then Thibs finally let him join them.

Play Frank / Quickley / RJ / Obi / Mitch tons of minutes together. Solid mix of defense, ball handling, some shooting (ideally better if Frank, RJ, and Obi can be solid.. still better than Payton and company), and athleticism. RJ, Frank, and Quickley can split handling duties and it would be good to have guys who don’t NEED the ball to be paired with RJ unlike Payton, Randle, etc..

Play guys like Knox heavy along with guys like Burks, Bullock (if he can shoot), etc...

Should definitely have a youth lineup and can have vets with other young guys like vets + Knox or something.

Frank / Rivers or Payton
Quickley / Burks
RJ / Knox or Bullock
Obi / Randle
Mitch / Noel

I disagree. I've seen Knox way more engaged and enthusiastic when he's out there with RJ, this was obvious last year too.

Knox biggest struggles come when he tries to fit in with the veterans like Morris, Portis, Randle and those guys. To maximize Knox, you gotta let him play with the guys that he has the best chemistry with. I'd look to see more of Knox with RJ and Obi with Quickly because there is a vibe in that collection that there really isn't with other guys

This isn't the first time I seen rj and others do the same when randle does some of his stupid antics

The rotation should be:

pg Quickley / DSJr
sg Frank / Burks
sf RJ / Knox
pf Toppin / Knox
c Mitch / Noel

We can't waste time on Randle and the one year mercs. Re-signing Payton is the only offseason move I truly hated. He should only play when Frank pulls his groin. When is a reporter going to ask about Brazdeikis? I'd like to hear what Thibs thinks of him so far.

Maybe the Clips again, if they can match salary. He seems good enough that with only a year left, he could be seen as a capper to a title team. Maybe not but you have to realize that the market for capable players who are not on bad contracts and who are available, and available for an affordable price, is quite small.
