Bol Bol 10 points and 6 rebounds in less than 6 minutes last night. Hoping he stays healthy because he's so much fun to watch.

Good Lord he is going to be a problem, yes he can be shoved around easily in the post, but he still has that insane reach so he is going to get his, he has that silky jumper too. Damn!!! I wish it had been us who took him.

I watched highlights of that Denver-Portland game, & you bet Bol Bol looks kinda amazing... I was going to write "for a guy his size," but forget that. He just looks good period!
Denver looks like a very tough team all in all....

You know why the rich get richer? They take risks. Bol Bol was red flagged as a medical risk. There were also questions about his coachability. I understand why teams didn't scoop him up in the lottery but why wouldn't one take that gamble at the 42nd pick? Why in world is a GM risk adverse in the mid 2nd round?

Ernie Sheppard.

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 4
For the Memphis branch of this forum, the Grizz crushed Atlanta last night. Interesting that with JJJ still out, they started Kyle Anderson over Brandon Clarke. Anderson's been playing real well in the preseason and had the highest +/- in the game. They actually started Grayson Allen at the 2. I think that'll change. Desmond Bane had a so-so game, but I think he'll turn out to be among the best value picks of the draft. Like JJJ, bigs Jontay Porter, Xavier Tillman, and Killian Tillie still haven't been healthy enough to play. Jonas V continues to be underrated - expect that he'll be a legit 3 point shooter this season.

Who here remembers the calls here to call-up Christian Wood from the NBDL, then to try and sign him before he went to DET?

Memphis is going to have one h$ll of a year. Esp. once Bane takes over the starting role from Dillon Brooks. I love their roster. They brought in a 30 year old GM in April 2019, & he's remade the team. He might be the best GM in basketball right now.

Devin Vassell has quietly been excellent for San Antonio during the preseason:

Every night he hits half his 3's, gets some rebounds, plays some D, and doesn't turn the ball over.

A mere .622 TS%
Not even quite 8 boards per 40 minutes.
No more than 9 total steals in his 82 minutes -- that's not even 5 steals per 40 minutes!
&, he did turn the ball over once -- don't forget that!

Re: NBA Games Discussion Thread - Part 4
While we're mentioning something draft-related, our discussion of Memphis made me look back at draft-day trades.
For their #35 pick, the Kings got the #40 pick & Memphis' R2 pick in 2021.
Kinda makes a person think that we might somehow have been able to trade our #37 pick plus something to the Kings for that #35 -- i.e. Xavier Tillman.

Achiuwa against the Raptors, 15 rebounds along with 13 points on 5/8 shooting in 23 minutes of action.
Was really hoping for him to end up with the Wizards.
The way he moves at his size, he has all the tools to be a defensive force.

Man, his 2nd jump is absolutely incredible.

Remarkable deep hip bend too... can't believe no one was talking about this before the draft.
In all seriousness, I love that it looks like they're grooming him as a baby Bam - it was always nice seeing Mason Plumlee cast as Jokic's understudy, and it could've been even better had that training started when he was 21.
