I still need to get a Jersey to put next to my Collison one. One of my favorite players ever, and I hope he gets a chance somewhere

Feels sort of surreal to bid goodbye to 'Dre. He's probably the most polarizing player in thunder history. I think on balance he helped more than he hurt and the metrics backed that up.

But some of his bad moments came on the biggest stages (Warriors nearly completely ignoring him on offense comes to mind). It was difficult to change perception with such visible examples in so many minds.

His injury in 2017/18 crushed my heart more than the KD's FA decision. At that time he was the specialist with the most positive impact in the league. It was not even close. I think we could have won a 7-game series vs GSW w/ him and that would have been beautiful.

Unique player. I always appreciated his skillset. Truly disrespected by many idiots.

Thunder fans, I'm a curious Hawks fan... what was the last anyone ever heard about what scouts and/or doctors believe about his future? I know he made it back to playing in the bubble, but beyond that, have you read or heard anyone of any regard assert that Roberson is 100%? Is there any anticipation he'll still be able to play D at an elite level, or are those days almost certainly past? He doesn't seem old enough for age to be a factor (29 iirc). What did you see in the bubble... I have to admit, I don't have a lot of good recall of how he moved around pre-injury... did you see essentially the same guy, or no? Can't be a good sign that he's not been signed yet by anyone, I suppose.

He didn't look bad when he played in the warmup games, but we started an undrafted free agent rookie instead of him, so obviously he wasn't anywhere near what he used to be. Shot looked better though.

We heard very little after the bubble -- the Thunder didn't offer him a contract (He became a UFA after his 3/$30M ended this year).

I don't think Roberson holds much value as an asset, but I would believe that other teams would probably give him a look after the season starts, he might filter in an out with 10-day contracts or as a replacement if CV19 knocks some folks out of lineups for a while. We've seen his development, then basically 2-yrs out due to a bad injury -- also plagued with setbacks -- it's not like he's young anymore, and his shot is still suspect, as is his mental composure in big moments.

During the bubble, he didn't play poorly, was definitely more confident in his shot, and actually hit a couple clutch shots in one bubble game -- which was nice to see. He looks to have quickened his release, but still wasn't in game-shape. I believe OKC gave him a chance to play a bit because it was probably already agreed that they wouldn't be offereing another contract to him.

He was said to not have any restrictions when he came back but no one declared him 100%, iirc. I don't really think anyone saw enough to know how close he was to his old self. Jeremy Lin had the same injury and it has pretty much ended his career. Ironically he got signed to the g league with the warriors today but that's about it. The same injury happen to Antonio Mcdyess and Caron Butler. Neither was anywhere near as impactful post injury. It's not a common injury but seems to be more detrimental than an Achillies injury.
