even if mccann is a .700 ops player, that contract isn't bad.

he also throws out 36% cs for his career.

but more importantly he's only a bridge until francisco alvarez is ready.

70% production of JT with 25% of the cost = right decision

we still need at least 1 SP.

dream = springer + 1 of odorizzi/tanaka

So long as we're dreaming ... Springer + Bauer + Lindor :D

although Bauer is the best SP in FA, I think his contract is still gonna surprise people.

Everyone can use him even if they think hes a #2. Just seems like there should be a ton of competition for him

I still want us to get 1 of Odorizzi/Tanaka

it makes too much sense and really shores up the starting rotation. Also gives the team a lot more flexibility to trade dom/nimmo/lugo/matz

I hope Cohen pays Conforto. I can actually see the team letting Syndergaard walk

Nimmo/ Lugo /jd/dom are all very valuable trade pieces.

ehhhhhh

Gimenez already proven he can defend and play 2 infield positions. Mauricio 2 years down the line.

I dont want Lindor who you'd have to pay anyway almost immediately. Especially when COnforto will get 200+m and Syndergaard will get 150+m

I see you're still traumatized by the Wilponzis. I have to say that I love Gimenez. So if we end up sticking with him, I'm cool with that.

The time is now. I really don't know what those other guys will get. Noah has to prove he's recovered and Forto has to have another good year. Even then, I don't see him getting $200M.

I really want to resign conforto because he's a "young" FA. For instance conforto will be 2 years younger than springer next year when conforto hits free agency. Or in other terms-- you have 2 more prime years of conforto on the deal than you would springer.

Noah I think has always been overrated and I wouldn't be upset to see him leave. And I can totally see the mets letting it happen as a strategic move because Noah is going to command #1 starter money as a #2 starter in terms of performance.

So as a 4d chess move I would totally:

Sign Springer/Bauer/Odorizzi or Tanaka this offseason

knowing you're gonna trade Noah or let him get to FA and get a compensation pick for him back next year. Than to resign him all together.

per the source that posted a winky emoji and never followed up.

Not gonna lie, drank some on Christmas and forgot I even posted that. I apologize, I should have followed up.

From what I was told springer informed his agent to enter exclusive negotiations with Mets and pretty much rules Toronto out. This deal will get done and it is just a matter of time with the holidays and everything.

Mets are in play for Japanese pitcher Tomoyuki Sugano who has to be signed by January 7, I believe.

I'm hearing that Kris Bryant could be available as the Cubs will continue with their fire sale. Bryant has only 1 year left on his contract but had a rough time in 2020 with the shortened season.

I’m thinking it has to be Springer but I’m also hoping for that Japanese pitcher too. Then perhaps a trade for Lindor or Arenado.

:)

I'm thinking it was just this guy taking a shot in the dark knowing what we all know which is that the Mets could sign someone at any time so he took a shot that it would happen in the next day or two which didn't happen. We all know at any time the Mets could sign someone whether it's a big time name or someone a level lower. Could happen today, tomorrow, the next day or the next day after that but they're gonna do something that's for sure.

I want Sugano (Japanese pitcher) as well.

well according to people that know, springer told his agents to talk to the mets so i guess it's all about getting an extra year on the contract or not.

but at this point if springer signs with someone else it'd be shocking, it's down to the blue jays/mets and the blue jays are always acting like they're looking elsewhere.

HUGE news for all you Amazins fans. One of the best producers in the entire sport, and young to boot. Legit cornerstone piece. Above average offensively, one of the best defenders I've ever seen, and one of the most marketable personalities in the sport. NYC is going to LOVE LOVE LOVE him.

Some of you have already deduced, but I'm a big Mets "hater". My boys and I growing up were evenly split Yankees/Mets, and we'd argue, fight, bet, etc constantly about whose team was better. I often visit this thread to relive some of those feelings since my boys and I have grown up, moved away, and basically aren't in touch like that anymore.

This is one of the first Mets moves in a long time that I'm legitimately jealous of. It is a GRAND F*CKING SLAM. Just the absolute perfect character/player/personality to bring to NYC at the perfect time for the Mets franchise. The fit is like a glove, but a thousand times better. Everything about it is right - AND the freight paid in the trade was done largely by a SS prospect, so it's even better.
