So yup... for now, Chuma is a 4. His body, speed and lateral quickness isn't there for a modern day SF.

Is it too late to buy a seat on the Cole bandwagon?

I know I'm super late to this thread, but I'm still waiting for the "inefficient chucking" from Cole.

Part of the problem with the "low effort is okay because it's preseason" take for me is the players who we are discussing. Evan and Fultz are both players who imo have given subpar effort on the defensive end at times throughout their careers. Evan much more so than Fultz, but Fultz has still made me question his effort level defensively at times since he has been here.

For someone like Fultz, it's just not something I want to continue seeing and would rather see good habits built in the preseason. That's why I think the play bothered me.

I get that in general, veterans aren't going to exert full effort in a preseason game but I don't consider Fultz a veteran, I consider him a player who has something to prove, && Evan to me is already an unworthy entitled offensive player, so when I see him lacking effort on defense it just frustrates me to no end.

I went back and watched all 27 shots Anthony has taken in the preseason so far.

He is...

4-6 on catch and shoot 3PT
2-6 on 3PT off dribble
2-6 on layups
2-3 on midrange off dribble
1-3 on floaters
1-2 on short fadeaways
1-1 on OReb putbacks

He's had a couple of bouts of tunnel vision where he's forced up a shot when he probably should have kicked it out to an open man in the corner, but for the most part he's taken open shots.

The biggest issue for Anthony offensively so far is that he just hasn't finished very well in traffic. He's actually blown by a couple of guys with his hesitation dribble, but he's missed quite a few layups against the help defender.

If he's going to be a bad finisher, then he either A. has to really be a very good shooter or B. draw a ton of fouls if he wants to maintain any sort of reasonable efficiency.

They encourage them to shoot with confidence, they dont critic too much their mistakes. Ross talking that not many players can make passes like Okeke is music to my ears.

From the game :

-Chuma and Anthony are two most impressive rookies since...... Isaac :P I didnt expect those passes out of Okeke so early and his shot is smooth. Long ago i compared him to Rashard and there is something in it. Anthony improved his decision making already. He made good reads this game. I am so excited.

-Fournier had a bad game but he didnt force anything. He made a lot of space for Fultz out there despite his struggles. Lets be honest Fultz was quite bad until the game was over. We would propably win if Fournier had higher usage than 13%.

-I wonder why nobody wrote about Aaron Gordon. He was far worse than Fournier. By netrating he was 3 times worse than Fournier. Outside flashy putbacks he gave us double 0.
Because he isn’t as hated.
