Or was that usual restriction not happening this season?
I tried a trade with Beasley and i got...

'Malik Beasley cannot be traded because 3 months have not passed since he re-signed using Bird rights with a 20% raise in salary and the Timberwolves are over the cap. He will be eligible to be traded after Feb 25, 2021."

thanks

I think I had seen a tweet from someone like Hollinger around FA that said late Feb. at that point too, wasn't sure if anything further had been decided

PHI GETS: James Harden, PJ Tucker, DeAngelo Russell
PHI GIVES: Ben Simmons, Tobias Harris, Mike Scott, picks

HOU GETS: Anthony Edwards, Ricky Rubio, Mike Scott, picks
HOU GIVES: James Harden, PJ Tucker

MIN: Simmons, Beasley, Layman, Harris, KAT. Simmons plays PG for us, fixes our size and defense issues, and there is no better complimentary player in the NBA to develop Simmons than KAT. Harris would work fine as a starting PF here, he is a very good player, just overpaid. Our books would be ridiculously bad, but the team would be fun. Sign McLaughlin. We can use Beasley (later)/Okogie if trading Rubio is too much to bear.

Russell would actually be a nice fit on PHI, especially if Simmons isn’t there, and I think he could work with Harden. I would have more questions about his fit in HOU with John Wall.

I don’t think a MIN deal here is happening, but it’s fun to play with the concept!

I like it.

Tremendous effort, shrink...by far the best proposal I’ve seen on any board. HOU fans will cry it’s not enough but I think they are going to be very disappointed in the final return for Harden and Simmons simply will not work next to Wall.

Thanks for the kind words, Slim Tubby. I almost didn’t post it because it seems so unrealistic, but it is fun and does a few things I like.

For HOU, when I read between the lines, it seems like like they asked PHI for Simmons and picks, PHI finally relented on Simmons, but would go no farther, so HOU said, “OK, if you send Simmons to another team, maybe they can bring more value.” This deal sends Simmons to a team that would love him, and PHI is willing to give up picks to turn Harris into Russell. PHI is one of the few teams who could really use Russell - HOU with Wall wouldn’t value him. I think HOU would prefer retooling around Simmons, but if their cheap owner wants a full re-set, Anthony Edwards has value, and can be marketed to sell the Harden deal to HOU fans. We could add more value, but taking on Harris should count for a lot.

Harris goes to the team most desperate for a PF improvement (us), and he and Simmons would probably not object to coming here. This would be great for Simmons future value, with the ball in his hands, next to KAT, who is supposedly a buddy of his. However, the money is so tough. I contended last year that we wouldn’t see Russell traded for Covington, because MIN couldn’t get anywhere with three max deals locked into KAT, Wiggins, Russell. No flexibility. KAT, Simmons, Harris is more expensive, but they are a better combo with a higher ceiling. I don’t know how a new owner would look at the team, locked into millions of lux penalties for years. Still, that would be a very fun MIN team, and it could get much better.

I LOVE that Simmons trade but I just don’t see Rosas trading Russell.

What was Philly thinking with that Harris contract. He’s a good player but that thing is ugly at the end. If it means getting Simmons and dumping Russell’s deal, I take it on gladly though.

Would love it more if we got to keep Antman and instead traded Culver, McDaniels, Okogie and Bolmaro.

In theory, aside from draft picks, all we need to include is Edwards, Culver, Layman, and Davis ..not saying we should. That just gets us Simmons, not Harris.

Part of the value to get Simmons with only Edwards and not more assets is because we’re taking on Harris is this scenario.

I believe his contract also had a trade kicker which makes it even worse.

I like that better.
Part of Simmons allure is his size. Offense he's PG, other end on defense he's our size defender. No need for Harris.

I would rather Wolves not get involved if Philly is going to use Wolves to dump two of their large salaries. They are getting the best player in this. Houston is over a barrel with a force out. Wolves shouldn't take any hits to be involved. Just benefitting with win now guys instead of developing.

Philly - Harden/Russell (I wouldn't mind those two here together)
Houston - Harris/Edwards/Culver and Philly Picks
Minnesota - Simmons/Curry/and they dump PJ Tucker's last year on us.

Trade flies: http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=ydfrq4el

Likewise keeping DLo and sending Rubio instead.
Philly - Harden/Rubio/E Davis
Houston - Harris/Edwards/Culver and Philly Picks
Minnesota - Simmons/Curry/and they dump PJ Tucker's last year on us.

Simmons, Dlo, Beasley, Seth Curry, Towns on a team. What you fill in around that with I'm not sure. But there are shooters to put around Simmons in that list.

If he said, “I want to win,” I’d make the trade.

If he said, “I want to play with my friends” I’d still make the trade, but I’d also start looking to trade KAT

The timing on Dlo and KAT's contracts means they might be needing to have that conversation in 2 years regardless of what happens

I mean, if we want to unload Kat and DLo....

http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=y6v2657v

I would take that as a start

And if you really want to get crazy...

With Juan Hernangómez, Ed Davis, and Jake Layman, the Minnesota Timberwolves have $15.26MM in salary matching at the trade deadline ($8.76MM without Hernangómez that can be traded before the trade deadline). There are a multitude of avenues the team can explore to fill the massive hole at Power-Forward.

If a James Harden trade goes down, there is no question in my mind that Minnesota will get involved with a PJ Tucker team, if the team has Playoff aspirations.

PJ Tucker would be a huge mistake if something good is given in exchange tbh. In few months he turns 36 years old and he wasn't good last season. Also we will still lacking height.

It won't happen but is a pretty well balanced trade for all the teams involved.
