think about it. Oladipo for our cap space. Sign one of Olynyk or Theis for the full MLE. Oladipo can have the same improved play effect that Richardson has right now. It's playing with Luka that opens things up.

C- Porzingis / Powell / WCS
PF- Kleber / Theis
SF- Oladipo / DFS / Bey
SG- Richardson / Burke / Green
PG - Doncic / Brunson / Terry

Green is a SG?

Actually, if Hinton gets developed he can be that SG defense/energy guy. Green is an SF. Also, think Oladipo is not the guy for us next year. And I think Trading THJ in a year where you have problems with getting Free agents is problematic, to say the least. Oladipo will btw turn 29 this season, so not the youngest guy on the block as well. Kelly Oubre looks like the most interesting UFA next year to me. But a lot will change. Dallas just needs to wat the entire year and see who is good and then go for them with all the cap space they have

I definetly see green as a sg. Not big or strong enough for sf yet, too few tools

Im not opposed to Gordon.

I would move
THjr
Johnson

For

Gordon
Ross
Aminu
(They all have solid movable contracts)

Orlando is on the treadmill of mediocrity and could be looking for some cap space.

KP
Gordon
Richardson
Ross
Luka

Aminu even though a little older made his mark in Dallas and is a good insurance man for those wanting another big.

Either way Dallas will do what they do and swing big at the deadline.

I think they completely missed the boat on Wood. If the Bulls are done with WCJ, that could be a good option. Or go all in on Gobert. They need someone big enough to defend PFs and C's, because even KP isn't strong enough and will get bullied. There aren't a lot of great options available.

IMO, Luka, JRich, DFS and THJ are potentially good enough to cover the PG to SF position on a championship team + Green has potential to be in the Sg-SF rotation and he should be given a chance. Jalen still potentially can be the back up PG.

The problem is the front court : replacing the Powell minutes, giving slightly less responsibility to Kleber, covering ourselves if KP can't play.

Completely agree and if we are giving up THJ, I'd go for a guy like Gordon.

6,6 with his frame is not enough for a SF position?

Talking about guys like DeRozan and such

I think Orlando will want more than a couple of expirings for Gordon.
We'd have to throw in a pick, Brunson, DFS or one of our rookies. Maybe a combination.
Also, the numbers don't match so we'd probably have to add Maxi to make it work.

Courtney Lee please

Probably will be.
This team has enough leadership in our core now so Lee's veteran presence is a necessity imo.

This cleared both trade machines I did.

Orlando could want more, but remember the need to pay Issac, Fultz, and maybe Fournier. The space could be worth more to them based on how they view their own players.

Is Kelly Oubre Jr. on our radar?
G.S. just traded for him as a stopgap measure after Klay's injury. I don't think they'll be willing to commit long-term to him since he'll likely demand a high salary in the 2021 free agency period.

He could be. If his 3 pt shooting holds up, he would be ripe for a massive overpay to lure him in.

Who says no to this?

Orlando receives:
James Johnson
Tyrell Terry
Future 2nd round pick

Dallas receives:
Aaron Gordon

With Gobert off the board now regardless of what you think that's 1 less FA.

Olidipo will be the biggest UFA (I think Leonard stays)

Collins & Issac will best RFA

This looks more and more like a trade to upgrade the roster now over a FA even though Olidipo could kinda be both.

Really feels like Orlando, Indy, and Chicago
are the teams to target as they are kinda stuck and have some obtainable desired players.

Is there a team in the West that could do something with the Mavs? Maybe the Kings and Buddy but that's all I can see.

I think Orlando says no but this is probably not too far off.
They'd probably want Brunson and Green which I would still consider.
Johnson's contract matches up well with Gordon's salary wise so I could see the Mavs having interest in going after Gordon and being able to work something out.

I definitely think they should take the trade route to acquire another star player. I mean I would like Olidipo but his health concerns me. I would rather bring THJ and JRich back. So if they decide not to pursue Dipo in FA then acquiring a player through trade is their best bet. Isaac would be the best fit but I don’t see Orlando moving on on him. I don’t know if there is a team in the West that would do anything with the Mavs. Houston maybe? If Chicago is out of it by the trade deadline would they be willing to part with Carter or Markkanen?

Works for me. I’d also look into trading for Bamba or Fournier as well if they’re available.

Is Gordon a 3rd star?
To me no, but Im not sure the big 3 is gonna come back. More big 2.5 if that makes sense.

He's only 25 and his contact is pretty solid

I would move him up over Olidipo just based on price and age.

Like you said maybe you get Fournier tossed in whos a UFA or Ross. Key would be to upgrade but if THjr is the one to go make sure to bring back some shooting to replace him for now.

He’s not a star, but he’s a good defender and he’s young enough to potentially turn into a good role player with better coaching than what the Magic have given him.

I could see him playing a Matrix role here if he’s forced to play the role of 3rd or 4th option

Return to Dallas Mavericks
