I said it was going to get crazy three years ago.. Free Agency don't mean chit.. to get good all Star players .. you have to trade for them... or play Russian roulette in the draft.
Knicks will be loosing games for years to come

We probably should try and get Mitch to sign for 4 year/ 44 mil. A bit of an underpay, but might as well give it a shot

Frank probably will give us sticker shock. Fultz isn’t good.

Re: Around the NBA - Offseason Chatter
Rivers about to fire his agent like Noel did.
Though, what's interesting, is that I feel like these players are getting paid a bit high based on still unreached "promise".
I'm not saying they aren't good, especially Issaac.
But Fultz? Kennard? White? This is money kind of like THJr got, where "they'll play their way into it/there is upside".
I guess based on individual FO assessment - maybe the Spurs is more accurate, not sure about Fultz, was Kennard in a trade so they don't want to lose him\they are in contending window?
Seems like outside the players who break out, who get the low max, there's a certain trajectory where players are underpaid and under team control for 4/5 years. Then, if they aren't great, but decent\retain whiff of promise, they get one chance to get paid, that 2nd contract.
And then, by 3rd contract/27 years old, league knows who they are and they are back down in scrub land pricing of 3, 5, 7 million.
Feels like the CBA is just sort of f*cked up right now, for players and the league. I dunno. Maybe this is just right.
Seems like middle class players are a little more screwed over. I might be totally off base.

It's not a bad thing, necessarily. Teams capping themselves out, or near it, left and right.
That leaves some players - lower end guys, looking ANYWHERE for money, and maybe Knicks get a bargain.
Also, you'd have to assume teams will need to trade at some point, and maybe that's where the Knicks and cap space come in; they maybe get opportunistic and take a contract and get a pick.

Fultz is probably 50% a real #1 pick. Despite the weird trajectory. He's worth paying.

Obi 2nd.
I have to agree. Obi is going to be fine and people panicking over a preseason are paranoid.

Just put money on Quickley to win ROY at +2700. But I would not be surprised if Obi starts balling after a couple of regular season games.
My only issue with Obi winning ROY is that he won't get minutes behind Randle and I doubt we trade Randle before the allstar break at least.

Not sure if LaMelo is starting before all star break either. It’ll be interesting. As seen with bias votes with Zion, doesn’t take starting all season or playing most of the season to be in consideration

If he doesn't pan, that's kind of a lot to carry for 3 years

His play last year wasn't worth what we're paying him (prob more like $12 mil a year), but obviously these sort of contracts aren't the type that are strictly based off of past play, and just like other teams the Magic are banking on internal improvement. Our team actually needs more from him scoring wise, like, being aggressive and looking for his own shot more than he did last year since he was pretty deferential to Vuc/AG/Fournier. If he played more aggressively and got more raw numbers I think more people would've been "okay" with the deal even if it didn't really improve the team, but he played good team ball.
Last year is a team option as well, so it's only two years and they're banking on him being more aggressive and getting his three point shot up to anything in the mid 30s.

Didn't realize year 3 was a team option.
If he were to completely regress (which I don't think), that's livable.

Re: Around the NBA - Offseason Chatter
That Fultz deal is going to look like a bargain before year’s end. Kid has been through hell getting his shoulder diagnosed properly and fixed. Still a baby and has prodigious talent.
