Something I've been wondering about: Is hockey popular at all in Wisconsin? Based on the weather, proximity to other cities with popular hockey teams like Chicago, Detroit, etc. you would think so. But they are never in the discussion for cities that would get the next NHL team. Seattle's potential rivalry with one of the biggest markets (Vancouver) was a huge factor in them getting a team.

You guys have the University of Wisconsin Badgers and Milwaukee Admirals (Nashville's farm team). How popular are the?

I just looked at the Badger's roster and they have some good players. Cole Caulfield is a beast.
still learning the game

There is a rumor that the Blackhawks had and/or have a contract with the NHL, saying that Milwaukee can’t get an NHL team, or there’s a certain amount of radius that there can’t be another team within.

Put the NHL team in River Hills and it'll be fine.

This definitely was a thing and it is why there was never a pro hockey team in Milwaukee in the early 90s.

Old Blackhawks ownership demanded a 20 million payment on top of the 30 million expansion fee.

Just finished the whistleblower podcast about the Donaghy scandal and the Invasion cover up.

Damn. Awesome listen.

The Pettits built the Bradley Center with the intent of bringing the NHL to Milwaukee. Lloyd Pettit was a Chicago Blackhawks broadcaster. Over the years he had the opportunity to buy an existing team and move it here or get an expansion team. But at the end of the day he didn't think it was economically viable in Milwaukee. And there was the Blackhawks objection although many think Pettit could have overcome that. That was 30+ years ago of course.

I'd love an NHL team here.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

Thanks for the heads up on this. Sounds like a nice listen while I play a mindless video game over the holiday break.

I get that, I just don’t think his defense is top 10 level the way a lot of people seem to. Seems like an odd player for a high risk, high reward contract

The market can barely support the teams we have so I don't see any way to bring an NHL team here. I am thankful for all of the options we have currently.

NBA talking about possible expansion. I am all for a couple of more franchises to make it harder for the Bucks to move.

Hello friends, it has come to my attention that teams that were building their rosters around poaching Giannis away from us in 2021 will now have to settle for wooing John Collins. I find this very satisfying.

He seems to be getting paid for potential, which is about as bad as signing a 32 y.o. guy to a 5-year contract, based on his age 31 stats.
