I have been pretty vocal about my dislike for Collins for quite some time now. The Blazers wasted that draft year on Collins and Swanigan. Look at the players they could have selected instead. Collins has had his moments; that I will give him. Unfortunately, those moments do not come along all that often, let alone consistently. I do recall he had a decent series in the Blazers run to the WCF two years ago, but that was a few games. We haven't seen much from him since. He's small for his size and that will continue to be a problem. When the guy can't even post up a PG down in the paint, there's gonna be a problem. I've said it a number of times, although this is the first since his suspension, but the Blazers drafted the wrong Collins. Imagine this team with Donovan Mitchell instead of Collins. How about Bam Adebayo? OG Anunoby? Jarrett Allen? Kyle Kuzma? Instead, we ended up with Zach Collins and Caleb Swanigan. Wow!!!

And I never forgot about the talent Oden had. That guy dominated games, but he was more injury-prone than Collins, who has never shown the ability to dominate a game like Oden did. If the Blazers can get anything for Collins, I would not hesitate to make that swap!!!

You make a ton of great points, but I truly disagree with Kuzma. I roll the dice on a 3/D 7 footer over an ineffient non defense playing tweener forward all day. Kuzms is only talked about because he is a Laker. If he was drafted by the Pistons he would have the trade value of a tall Jordan Clarkson.

I would also still take the potential upside of KZ over Allen, who is a pretty easy to find player type. Much more than Collins.

But Mitchell, Bam and OG? Ya thats a big miss.

The 2017 NBA draft was an interesting draft but looking over the names, guys like Josh Jackson,
Markkanen, Ntilikina and Dennis Smith were chosen ahead of Portland's pick at 10. Portland worked
out all the guys and chose ZC who likely will be a 10 year man in the league but hardly an elite
player. Three other teams passed on John Collins at 19. Remember there was talk on this board about
Bam being available at 15 and who Portland would pick at 20 for there was talk of gambling on Giles.

I do think Portland will match any offers for Zach for once again he's going to miss some time and even
in a summer where teams will have cap space, I find it hard to believe Zach would get such an offer that
Portland would refuse. More likely is GTJ getting an offer Portland could refuse, forcing Portland to work
out a S/T for a trade exception.

Huge Ducks fan, and I'll fully eat crow and say I wanted the Blazers to draft Bell, but everything that leaked from the front office - including the Swanigan pick but not the trade-up to Sacramento - had Brooks, who had not only recently worked out with Portland but done the post work-out dinner, being the #2 option at pick 26. Fully understand the obsession with players out of Washington given the franchise's history, but that was a huge whiff given how many Blazers fans are also Ducks fans. Plus fit. Plus hindsight.

Still think Bell can be a poor man's Hasaan Whiteside, but Whiteside just signed for the veteran's minimum in Sacramento of all places, so that doesn't look good for Bell having a future NBA career.

I hated, hated the Caleb pick, but Brooks wouldnt be the alt option for me. Derrick White and Josh Hart are much better players. I would take Bryant ahead of him as well. Brooks would be like #4 to me. He has a pretty numerous skillset, basically being a bit of a chucker IMO.

This team with Derrick White as the 1st guard off the bench backing both positions would be great. He is a terribly underrated player.

I know, it looks terrible now. I was so excited to get Collins, but wanted them to take Hart rathern than Swanigan. Caleb was a truly awful selection. I mean seriously Neil? At a slow, unathetlic undersized C/PF tweener? WTF was he thinking with that pick.

I have not written Collins off yet, but I also am also not doing the "Meyers Leonard THIS is finally the year" thing for 8 years till he's damn near 30. He only played in 11 games last year, and some of those coming back after being out for months.

Can't say I disagree with you, although I do wonder... Had the Lakers drafted Collins instead of Kuzma - - - - - - - -

- - - - - - - - would anyone be talking about him?

So I guess Collins is about 3 weeks away from a return. Looking forward to a more firm date, but I think that despite the lack of confidence most have for him right now, we need him. We need for our PF to do get back to what he does so well, as it's obviously in need. So, get well soon big fella, better yet... hurry up, we need you back already!

I thought I saw it mentioned somewhere that they saw Collins in a boot during the game?
