All of the different agendas and narrative pushers from individual users in the community are what make it so fascinating to observe. Like the Elton Brand stan bit is taking me out at the moment.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
So assuming the Harden trade doesn't happen...
And the Sixers realize Ben isn't going to work with Embiid...
What is the most realistic trade we can come up with that brings in a star who fits with Embiid better, and sends Ben to a team that likely wants him?
Keep in mind we want a win-now, ready to compete for a title type player.
I honestly can't find a better one than James Harden. This is why I think you do the deal and include Simmons. Because chances are high that we eventually realize Ben isn't going to work with Embiid and we look to move on from him. And other than Harden, there really isn't another player who is molded to come right in and compete for titles next to Joel.
Beal? Maybe, but Washington has Westbrook now and won't trade Beal for Ben.
LaVine?? I suppose, but you'd need more than him for Ben and I'm not sure LaVine is championship ready the way Harden is now.
Mitchell? He could work if the issues with Gobert persist, but would Ben make sense with Rudy??

1. The Butler trade was masterstroke. Dario and Cov are no longer with Mini so that tells you how good that deal was.
2. Fultz trade was again a masterstroke considering his situation was a dark cloud hanging over the team and we now got Maxey out of it when most folks thought Fultz was a bust and hard to trade.
3. Matisse pick was smart
4. Burks are Robinson pick-ups were good
5. The picks he traded for Harris, plus Shamet as a player, haven't amounted to anything special. Harris has at least been a 20 pg guy in the regular season in the one and a half seasons he's been here. He wasn't good against Boston in the playoffs but one playoff series where Ben was missing shouldn't define a player imo.
6. He fired Brown and was part of the team who brought in Doc and Morey
The Horford deal was a bad one...but which GM hasn't made an error? Didn't Morey give injury prone Chris Paul a big deal and trade for Westbrook's contract? What about trading for Howard? Danny Aing also did the Kyrie deal.
So all in all how the hell can folks claim EB is a "bad gm" when he only had ONE free agency and ONE draft? He's been far from bad imo.

Unsurprising given its origin, your list is a joke.
1. Butler isn't here either so "that tells you how good that deal was." I would love to still have Covington and he obviously has much more value than Richardson. Wonderful move.
2. I already gave him half credit. It's not a masterstroke.
3. I already gave him half credit.
4. Traded two second round picks so we could get swept in the first round. Masterstroke.
5. The Harris trade was beyond horrible and you cannot think on more than a simplistic level so you don't even begin to account for the fact that it eventually led to the Harris contract - which notice you don't mention. And Shamet alone was already traded for the #19th pick (which we gave up in the trade) so Shamet himself has more value than Harris now.
6. I guarantee firing Brown was an ownership decision but even if not, you're really giving credit to a GM for firing a coach that he decided to keep on? Ok, great.
You keep talking about how he only had one offseason so how can anyone think he is a bad GM while never understanding that the reason he only had one offseason is because he did more damage in that offseason that any GM in recent memory.

LOL this is HILAROUS!!.. the EB detractors will write a whole damn essay to discredit the dude when the reality is they are merely spitting in the wind because their opinions DON'T MEAN JACK TO THE SIXERS OWNERS!!..HENCE HIS NEW CONTRACT
Anyway....
Er Butler was part of a team that was seen as a top two starting five in the league and took the eventual champions seven games and right down to the wire. Meanwhile Dario barely made a mark and Covington started ok and then got injured. What did they get out of the deal long-term? We got an all-star player and then turned that into Josh Richardson and now Seph Curry. So the deal is STILL benefiting the Sixers TODAY whilst Mini have nothing. Get it now? smh
LOL and this is why your whole post comes across as naïve and bitter!!. "Half credit"??
So when he made moves you didn't like "he's to blame blah blah". But when he made a GOOD MOVE he only deserves "half" the credit? That's PATHETIC and merely exposes your bias.
Yes because he could control Ben getting injured right? And building a ROSTER during the regular season is not what Gm's do right? Again all I see is naivety and bias
.
LOL at comparing a rotational player who barely averages 9 ppg to a TWENTY-POINT PER GAME PLAYER!!..you're getting very desperate now
. Harris has been with the team for UNDER TWO YEARS AND IS A CONSISTENT 20ppg who can score in a variety of ways and shoot from deep. IF Simmons could shoot a ten foot jumper maybe the trade wouldn't have been needed...but the bottom line is he can play with Ben and Joel and is a MUCH BETTER trade than Westbrook, Howard or Kyrie which you obviously just dodged because you don't want to talk about other GM's mistakes and act like EB is the only one that has made any.
So keeping him was Elton's fault, but firing him was ownership? Yep, there's that biased talk again.
So again WHAT DID MOREY DO TO THE ROCKETS when he traded for Westbrook and Howard, plus gave Paul a huge contract and destroyed their draft capital too? PLEASE TELL ME? But EB trades for a player who is 20ppg scorer and was part of the best starting five we've had in 20 years and that's "damage"? And you think he did more damage than a GM who drafted Fultz and gave up a pick to do so? SMH ABSOLUTE BULLJIVE
.

Unsurprising given its origin, your list is a joke.
1. Butler isn't here either so "that tells you how good that deal was." I would love to still have Covington and he obviously has much more value than Richardson. Wonderful move.

2. I already gave him half credit. It's not a masterstroke.

Ok, great.
So keeping him was Elton's fault, but firing him was ownership? Yep, there's that biased talk again.
You keep talking about how he only had one offseason so how can anyone think he is a bad GM while never understanding that the reason he only had one offseason is because he did more damage in that offseason that any GM in recent memory.

You honestly are not intelligible enough to be worth talking to. It's half credit because it's only a partially good move. I'll now go back to ignoring you like literally the rest of the board.

Yep..the same old excuses get rolled out when the EB detractors talking points get shut down.."not intelligible enough" translated means "I CAN'T DEFEND MY FEEBLE, BIASED ARGUMENTS"..period
But have fun "ignoring" me along with the other EB detractors and I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas

Jesus, even Elton Brand was like "I need to get someone in here that knows what they're doing" this off-season.
There isn't some big bias against Elton, most people like the guy as a person. He just did a bad job in a position that he obviously wasn't ready for.

For players that didn't get extended at the window the other day, I'd love to dangle Matisse + for Lonzo if the Harden trade did end up going through. It seems like they've drafted their pg of the future in Kira Lewis & he could come here and give you a lot of the same elements as Ben. Superb guard defender that can pick up anyone full court, pushes the pace in transition and has developed into a really solid floor spacer.

Er NO!!. Morey coming to Philly had nothing to do with "getting somone who knows what they are doing"...because if that was the case why did EB get a new contract, appoint Doc and bring in new guys in the front office?
And yes there is a bias against EB that goes beyond the game imo. People are obsessed with the Harris trade and signing Horford but have nothing to say about Morey's history of trading for Russ and Howard, destroying the Rockets draft capitol and giving 30 plus, injury riddled Chris Paul a huge deal. They dress him up as a great gm whilst consistently belittling EB. I call it out and folks aren't able to defend their frivolous points...it's just that simple.

Ben Simmons should be shamed with Lonzo's shooting improvement every day. Run it on a loop at the Training Facility lol.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread: 2020 Offseason
Off the wall Simmons trade idea. I don't know what the rules are on trading players that just signed extensions, but De'Aaron Fox and Haliburton (and Cory Joseph's contract for salary purposes) for Simmons. I'd rather do something like that and keep an extended window open instead of doing Simmons + assets for Harden.
