The playoffs are won and lost based on star calls. LAL is getting those right now. You add a borderline star like DeRozan to this team and we are adding numerous star calls once the playoffs hit. He is good enough and has enough name recognition and clout to get tons of tacky fouls in the playoffs, not to mention his game is attacking downhill.

We are not a Robert Covington away from contending, but we may be one star-calls type player away from a surprising postseason. I continue to think Demar is that guy.

Maybe but Miami is also beating other teams with more "stars." They have a bunch of quality lower recognition guys.

I am not so sure about that. Clearly they are not superstar driven, but they have tons of talent that most fans are only now realizing is pretty high quality.

Bam would be the 2nd best player on the Blazers. Dragic is probably about as good as CJ but has just never been on a deep playoff team to show his talent at a national level. Herro is showing that he likely develops into a legit #3 on a championship caliber team. Both Crowder and Robinson would be the 4th best players on our current roster, and are sitting as the 5th and 6th best guys in Miami right now. This isnt even taking into account Iggy, Nunn and Kelly.

We have a better chance at landing a middling star like DDR than building a team like Miami. We can acquire a flawed star overnight in a single deal, building a team with the depth of Miami isnt happening in Portland. We like to think this squad can develop overnight into the Heat, but the reality is we are nowhere close to them in terms of talent. They are absolutely stacked.

Is the NBA going to have a full 82 game season? If so, teams may need to manage the minutes players play. I would want to have 10 players on the roster that receive regular minutes and maybe a couple others capable of filling in here and there as players may need to sit here and there or on back-to-back games, etc.

What type of sanctions will the NBA apply to Sacramento and Milwaukee for free agent tampering?

Is 3.4 pounds a lot of weed? That picture looks like Biggie put on substantial weight. I bet that started before the reboot. It was probably the personal reasons that kept Swanigan from rejoining the team.

Per The Athletic, Harden added the Blazers as a potential trade destination. Can't see it happening, but nice to be invited to the dance.

One time Portland had the 16th pick in the draft and legendary coach Dean Smith told Portland they should draft Payton Pritchard. Neil Olshey, who was the GM at the time, said we needed a SF/PF. Plus we already had Simons. Smith said "then play Pritchard at SF/PF!" and the rest is history.

Look, our backup point guard is CJ. And after that, it's Simons. It's not like you could get some late first round or cheap player that would be better than Simons.

I’ll be honest, I’m not sure if anyone else is struggling with this, but with everything that’s been happening, I’ve had a pretty difficult time getting into this season...
