Thibs isn't stupid and I love the staff he's put around him. These guys are smart and know what they are doing, I'm just going to sit back and watch how this thing develops. Doesn't mean the starting lineup is the best we got or that it will work but there's a strategy to it no doubt about it. Thibs is going to let it fail that way the locker room has no excuse to quit on him if it does

The starting lineup would suggest otherwise. To me anyone with half a brain would know this lineup ain't working. And if he is just playing vet favs well that is garbage.

Lets see how that bench plays first when the lights come on for real then we can judge properly. This is what Thibs is doing, its up to the bench to standout again and like I said earlier if they do then the starting lineup wont last long. Its pretty simple

There is one thing here that I think is worth noting as an excuse. He may want Knox to play with Quick as much as possible.

I just don't think this is the end of the world but obviously having to see Payton start at point is nauseating. Nobody feels the same about Randle? I guess you accepted that as a given.

it's not about standing out or playing better than the starter in front of them, it's about having 4 guys in your starting lineup who can't shoot. you sit mitch and noel is not changing that. you could theoretically sit rj but he was your highest draft pick since patrick ewing so you might not want to sit him over a mercenary on a 1 year deal who has no future here. you could sit randle but obi doesn't really stretch the court either so, again, it changes nothing. this is the one spot where you can do it. but they won't.

Randle can at least produce. He has legit skills, he just has no position and he thinks he's better than what he actually is. I could see him getting buckets off the bench for a playoff team, similar to Montrez. Payton on the other hand is not an NBA player. Or at best a third-stringer, barely.

The reality is that he's conservative about lineups I'm sure but also likes Quick a lot. Butler didn't start for the Bulls, hell he didn't even look as good as Quick already has. It's a tad early to jump to conclusions. Not like Payton is on a multi-year deal.

Exactly this isn't anything other than thibs playing politics with the the vets. He needs to start a lineup that actually fits together. Starting 4.5 non shooters that's right bullock ain't even a shooter. What does he think is going to happen?
