Re: Around the NBA 11
In terms of Wiseman hitting a couple of jumpers that’s awesome but he shot both of those shots with under 4 minutes in a game his team was losing by 30. I need to see him shoot a few more shots when the game matters and also just get at least a 30 shot sample size before I judge it as an actual part of his game.

He also cant rebound and moves like Boban amirite??
Well he moved very lumbering, he reminds me of DeAndre Jordan
Do we need him on this team? Yes, he would be nice to have, but does he have more potential than LaMelo? I don't think so
Wiseman has made as many three pointers in one game as DeAndre has in his entire 13 year career
Doesn't seem like the hottest of takes
Besides, a DeAndre clone with three point range is an all-NBA player so...

I guess counterpoint tho, I never said he wouldn’t be able to contribute day 1 or he would be a horrible player. My issue was how much would he impact winning and make others better.
Wiseman 19/6 on over 50 percent from field...Warriors lost by 26
You might be the biggest blind Hornet homer on this board these days
Not that there's anything wrong with that but come on bro
Based on what? Lol
I’m a person who bases their views/opinions on larger sample sizes and then sticks with their opinions. I’m not a person who will be low on a guy and then after a game or two change my opinion on him, then after 5 more games flip my opinion again. I tend to form my ideas and stick with them until I have a significant amount of assurance I’m wrong or right.

Im gonna dislike this dude even more if it turns out he could still play but just didnt give af in Charlotte and basically scammed us for a big payday.
I'm not surprised at all, he's very much like Diaw, he will be handy with a team of stars/great players. You just can't ask him to be the star.

You’ve got a massive, massive sample size with Melo’s poor shooting and shot selection, but that doesn’t seem to matter to you.
You shouldn’t pick and choose when you apply your opinion criteria just to serve your own purpose.
It kills your credibility.

100% agree on this.
I’m not sad at all we didn’t give up assets to move up and get Wiseman and am much happier to have Melo and our future 1sts in tact.
My thing will forever be comparing Ball to Haliburton and Okongwu, not Edwards and Wiseman.

This. For the sake of this board (and what remains of my sanity), I'm thrilled we didn't have to choose between Wiseman and Melo. Wiseman would've easily been my guy 'tween the two, but not having the choice, OK to ride with Melo and only ponder the possible possibilities (and hang on to picks!).

Since when is 12 games a big sample size? He was considered one of best shooters in high school. Scored 92 points in a game on mainly three point shots off the dribble. Has hit a ton of big threes in his short career. Am I arguing he is going to be a super high percentage three point shooter? NO. But he is a good enough shooter that defenses will have to guard and contest him, he also has shown the ability to hit threes off the live bounce which a ton of NBA starters are really not able to do consistently.

Exactly! I wanted Deni personally so my camparo will be how is he doing vs Avidija not Wiseman.
With Wiseman - It's like comparing PJ to Zion and being bitter about not having Zion.

I'd say it's more like comparing PJ to Rui. Zion was always out of reach, while ending up with Wiseman was a real possibility (whether he fell or we moved up).
TBH I didn't have Ball in my top ten so I'm going to be comparing most of these dudes to him lol

Batum with 6 assists, 6 boards and 3 points. See we didn't need to draft LaMelo we already had a 6'8 PG that can't score

He was also playing solid D and took a charge. I wasn't expecting to be upset watching him, but it definitely irked me with how passive he played last two seasons.

LaMelo has the confidence and desire to be a scorer, Batum has neither.

Re: Around the NBA 11
Batum is back to his best role which is being the 3rd to 5th best option on the court where he doesnt need to score. He will do well with the Clippers.

Re: Around the NBA 11
Ya, I never meant to bring up Wiseman to make it a LaMelo vs Wiseman thing. I wanted Wiseman and I lean towards thinking that the front office wanted him too, but I don't think anyone wanted us to give up good assets to move up a spot or two for him if he wasn't going to make it to 3.
I just think that its very clear people were underselling his potential and acting like all he could do was dunk and he had the mobility of Enes Kanter or something.
I was pretty high on him and he still looked better than I expected. The vote of confidence from Kerr to get the starter position when hes still so raw, hasn't played in a year, has barely even practiced, and that team is trying to make the playoffs, is pretty eye opening. Kerr has given him the green light to shoot outside shots and hes even allowed to handle the ball on fast breaks already (even more shocking). Maybe I missed it, but I can't remember a 19 year old Hassan Whiteside or DAJ being allowed to lead fast breaks.

The league couldn't even make it past day #1:
Seriously: What is the actual likelihood of the league making it through the season - even a truncated one - if they can't make it past 1 day?
NBA Postpones Rockets-Thunder Due To COVID-19 Testing
The NBA has postponed Wednesday's game between the Houston Rockets and Oklahoma City Thunder as the Rockets don't have the mandatory eight players to begin a game.
The Rockets had three positive/inconclusive COVID-19 tests while four other players are quarantined due to contact tracing. James Harden is also out due to a health and safety protocols violation. Another player is out due to injury.
John Wall and DeMarcus Cousins and Martin were among Rockets players gathered on Tuesday evening at a player's apartment getting haircuts.

I'm still surprised they are trying to make it happen like this. Idk, maybe it will work out, but Ive always been skeptical.
