The way to look at this win is like this:

We were playing the NBA's Golden Boy, Mr. Social Distance (Anybody within 6 feet of him will get called for a foul) himself, we had our 2 centers rack up a total of 9 fouls in the first quarter, our Hall-of-Fame PG's debut was mediocre at best, Booker tried to go all Harden and racked up like 9 turnovers.........but we still won....AND IT WAS ALL DUE TO OUR DEFENSE!!!!!!!!

Yeah, we really could have used the 1-4 shooting, 3 assists and 1 rebound Rubio put up for Minny tonight a lot better than Paul's key steal and baskets down the stretch.

Cam Payne and Cam Johnson were both terrific tonight. Mikal was great as usual.

Ayton played good D apart from his foul trouble. Even Jalen wasn't too bad, though he lacks confidence.

Damian Jones on the other hand...

Double checked to make sure I didn't miss him, but Moore didn't even play tonight. Not long ago we were looking for players like him to come start and play 30+ minutes for us. What a difference.

Quick thoughts about the game.

Book forced it too much, kinda got the feeling he wanted to prove he's still the man with cp3 here.

Ayton's fouls were BS, defensively he was above solid, especially on the perimeter. Missed a couple of drives where he didn't contest being the weak side defender but no blown coverage or so. On offense he got his with the minimal touches he got, it's funny how he can score 13 points and you can hardly tell he got any shots.

Cp3 had an off game, yet his influence in crunch time was huge, that's why they brought him.

Cams and Galloway, very solid game, love me some Johnson, he's looking like he's developing very well (ain't that a nice change from our pre-18 rook classes)

Game ball goes to Mikal, he's taking the next step we were hoping to see from Ayton, he's reaching Middleton territory this year, I love this guy.

I feel like playing with Bridges is really really good for Cam. They're very similar with Bridges more defensive and Cam the more offensive version. Both are stepping it up on the other side though. Bridges needs to continue to be aggressive and take whatever the defense gives without hesitation. Cam just needs to be a sponge while watching Bridges on the defensive end. They can be an awesome duo for years to come.

Mikal and cam were the shinning stars all game

Book with the turnovers was bad but that’s just rust

CP3 just needs to find his Rythum(I’m not worried)

Ayton got into foul trouble (the 3rd was a crap call) but played very well when the game mattered

I’ll take the W against arguably the best player in the nba in Luka .... merry x mas

I'll add that Galloway looks like a guy who can give a legit scoring boost off the bench, and Jaylen Smith played a lot more mature than you'd expect from a rookie in his first game.

I'm starting to believe in Payne. This is his 9th NBA game now as a Sun and he's looked like a quality PG in all of them so far.

Cam was amazing in that stretch. One of my Mavs friend even texted me asking who this Cam guy was.

I never really saw Crowder before tonight.. very disappointed.
Cam is a stud and I have been saying it since his 5th game.

This. Its obvious this a game that we lose previously and having CP3 out there as a steadying hand played a major key to the victory.

Kind of an ugly game, almost unwatchable at certain points because of all the whistles. But in the end, we won. ESPN was all over Luka the entire game, but we still came out with the W. Gotta love that.

Cam Payne looks like he came to play this year, it's one game, sure, but building on his bubble performance after having limited time in preseason is nice to see.

Mikal and Cam Johnson are going to be so good. I doubt either will ever be an All-Star (probably All-Defense for Mikal), but they are just so so efficient and play really smart basketball, love watching both of them.

Final thought: More Gallo, less Carter.

He's a 6'8" Booker clone.

Crowder isn't a player that sticks out with his play and makes you remember him. His impact is under-the-radar though. He also didn't have much time with the team for practice, but he will get better with time for sure.
