Lauri is better player than his situation right now. Because he is big pf position wise he doesnt always looks good. He is not Kawhi/Davis type to be cornerstone but with team who plays team defense in right way and with good/elite guard he would look same or even better than Galo in Okc, D.Robinson in Heat or Kuzma on Lakers. More than Bulls regreting for picking him, he should regret why Bulls drafted him.

Healthy Lauri again was good in the touches he got. He actually got more playmaking opportunities and again he got multiple assists.

But yet again the usage isn't there because our sh*tty ass guards can't find him consistently. Only getting 9 shots??

We'll likely be talking about Lauri's touches for the rest of his career, and to some extent it's true that he'd likely perform better with a true point guard. Either way, it doesn't change the fact that he's among the worst defenders in the league at his position. He needs to be Uber elite offensively to make up for that, and it doesn't look like he'll ever get to that level on our team. He's either too passive, or he lacks the skill set to self create. Probably a combination of both.

theres a reason why Lauri stats plummeted. Lavine particularly thinks Lauri as his enemy and wont pass him the ball whenever he has 30pt games. Remember after first game last yr 35/17, Lavine was super pissed and didnt pass the ball after on. If Lauri cant have close to 30 shots when hes the best player in some games, his avg will suck bc of his in between bad games. Lauri will not commit to Chi if he has better stats than 2nd season which is highly likely coming contract yr.
Would trade him before NYK/CAVS maxes him out. I just never understood why even draft him when he is a high usage/2nd option scorer type and give him 10 shots per game.

Theres still some hope if Bulls get rid of White for pure pg Rubio and feeds Lauri into that 1st option to continue the feb Lauri experiment. Hopefully AK begs on his knees asking the finisher for forgiveness. All of Carter/White shots belong to him.
Doncic will be goat. Lauri will be his sidekick.

Lol, that's insane.

9 shots, 21 points, 66.7 3P%.

19 shots, 22 points.

11 shots, 9 points.

Not hard to figure out to whom those other stats belong to. Hopefully someone teaches them how to play for your team, not for yourself.

Didn't see the game but good on him for actually having a good offensive game but the fact he was that efficient yet still had a team worst +/- is very interesting.

The worst plus/minus is because Lauri did not play on 4th when Atlanta played their scrubs.

Lauri's 3 ball looked buttery smooth tonight. I think him and LaVine can be elite 3 point shooters at their positions, which pumps me up. When this happens, I'm giving them a knock off splash brothers nickname.

Shot looked much faster than at preseason. Lauri also showed to guards how to pass pall to nice allyes.

He rolled to basket a lot this time. Too bad Bulls guards can’t pass to those at all.

Facts are facts: Markkanen had his best overall game since forever, and I'm not only talking about his shooting. This was exactly the way you want a player to look when he's betting on himself. Active, confident. Now he needs to keep this up.

The "Lauri can't pass" crowd has been surprisingly silent. As I said in the game thread, he was our best playmaker. That's both sad and hilarious.

Lauri getting the ball on the perimeter and curling around a ball screen is looking like a great option right now. He doesn't have to overdribble there. Here's where his height is a distinct advantage - a 7ft playmaker can see over the defense and survey the floor. He has all kinds of options - shot, lob to screener, drive. Basically whenever we ran this action, good things happened.

yep thanks to your 11mil offer, Lauri will be forced to leave the team soon. good job on losing him for nothing.
Btw, it only takes 1 hungry team like the Cavs who are thristy for stretch 4 and throw a max. So what AK lost 40mil that day?
i said AK was a top 3 gm and he listened to anti Lauri's advice. guess he has better plan than losing 40mil a day.
at this point, im not even mad at him leaving. wonder the specifics of 4mil diff. (Was it 11vs 15, 16vs20)
But at least, explain yourself why you lost 40mil that day AK in a 1hr press conf. I have every right to know.

Few points:

- It's one game, you'd think people would learn to wait especially after his first game last season before making proclamations.
- He had 4 assists and 2 turnovers, I mean cool he had 4 assists but a 2:1 A/TO ratio isn't exactly praise worthy given Coby who was poor had 7 assists and 3 turnovers. Bit weird to praise one player for going 2:1 yet blast another for doing the same.
- He had an efficient offensive game yet players who shot terribly and turned the ball over more still managed to register a better +/-, that's not a good thing.

For the the folks here who know how trades work: Utah looks like a perfect fit for Lauri at the moment. They have Rim protection in the form of Gobert, legit first option in offense in Mitchell, true - althought old - pg in Conley and they currently start Bogdanovic and O'Neale as forwards. If they want to go somewhere with Conley, now is the time to try to win.

As Lauri seemingly has no value in Bulls, could there be a possibility of a trade with Jazz in a way that Jazz would keep the four important pieces mentioned above. I do not count O'Neale as an important piece.

We can talk about effort. We can talk about staying active. We can talk about taking pride in defense.

However, the real key for Lauri this season is bringing back the white afro.
