Come on, this is stupid. He played only 15 minutes and he did at least provide some other stats, like couple of steals, 3 assists. Bad game ok, but this means nothing. LaMelo LaFrance Ball can STILL go either way.

What makes him a punk? 6’8 Lotto picked PG’s will be in league for a long time

well by definition punk is a petty ruffian

Before he even played one game he was getting called the best passer the NBA has seen since Magic Johnson.

Then. He threw a bounce pass in a preseason game and people went nuts .

I'm not a Ball apologist by any means (I wanted Halliburton, Okongwu or Hayes) but I think nerves had a lot to do with it.

The first preseason game was similar, it was nice to see he wasn't pressing hard and jacking up insane shots but he looked tentative doing simple things. The 2nd/3rd preseason games were much better, not world-beating stuff but a marked improvement. I'm hoping the nerves settle down now that he has a real game under his belt.

Didn't he miss first 20 or 30 shots in the nba?

Some definite overreaction to one game. But has certainly reinforced the struggles he is going to have in the NBA.

He simply doesn't score the ball anywhere from the field at the NBA minimum cutoff level. When you just cannot make shots at an NBA level, why are you here? You cannot be a playmaker if you can't score at the rim or the 3. It's not possible.

His playstyle is beautiful, but the substance is not there. His assist: turnover ratio in the preseason was almost 1:1 and it's 1:1 again.

I don't think NBA players are longer than players in the NBL. NBL players are just as tall and long. NBA players are more athletic on averages yes. But NBL has a true zone defense and a shorter 3 point line. So you actually get more open looks and more time to get your shot off in the NBA.

Not being able to shoot for Ball would really have nothing at all to do with going from NBL to the NBA. If anything, it should be easier to shoot from the outside in the NBA, since you have more space and time to shoot than you do in the NBL.

It's not about defenders being longer, it's just that he's not a good shooter.

It's obvious that he's not 6-8.

Can you be a starting PG in the modern NBA if you can't shoot?

The way that offenses (and defenses) operate today is largely based on shooting and spacing. So much so that teams don't even like to have Forwards who can't shoot.

Also, the team is clearly planning to put the ball in Hayward's hands as much as possible. If LaMelo doesn't have the ball in his hands, what is he contributing on the court?

I was doing the same as you....reading more into a comment. Comprehend that

I wasn't saying that buying expensive gifts is the sign of a good dad either.

Then maybe you shouldn't have used him buying fancy cars for his kids as an example of him not being a horrible dad? :dontknow:
I was laughing through this whole back and forth. He literally used buying a fancy car as a good example of good parenting, and then tries to backtrack from it lol

What is with the Ball brothers and this Bizarro world scoring. Like any NBA caliber player can score 3 or 4 points. It's just bizarre.

This is silly, because I actually like the kid's game. Pass-first point guards generally have my respect. But somehow anyone who makes light of how a first round pick may not be ready for prime time is a hater? A little fun at his expense is hating? Don't do this.

Saw him twice in preseason against my magic. He can definitely score and pass and he’s a big PG. sure he’ll be fine

He's also one of the youngest, if not the youngest player drafted since the NBA stopped allowing high school players.

I mean its a given that he is going to be terrible in his rookie season, as lots of young rookies are.. But, this guy never showed a single thing in any meaningul competition prior to the NBA, why do people assume he is going to be a good rotation player in the NBA? Based on what? .. This pick screamed bust the second it was made.

Charlotte had an excellent chance to turn it around, but with this pick and the Hayward contract they absolutely blew it.
