I think even MJ will quickly realize dreams of being competitive are a bit silly this season. They just got pretty soundly beat by Cleveland of all teams and lost their starting center to injury.

It's sunk cost. No getting out of Hayward at this point so may as well keep it together.

With the way they spent on Rozier and Hayward, Charlotte should probably talk to Atlanta about Collins. I doubt Washington would get it done but you never know until you ask.

Why not? They only have 20 million in cap next season. I doubt that gets Collins. With his rights though they can match and keep him. He would not be an old guy at 24 and gives them more hope of making the playoffs.

What are we thinking Lonzo will cost the Pels?

I'd take Hayward for the Mavs ... If Powell's involved

I definitely couldnt do that. He's one of, if not, the worst contracts in the league. Similar to KP, has an unfortunate injury history. Not worth it.

Was New Orleans even taking a hard line on getting Ingram in the Davis trade? Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seemed like the Lakers chose to keep Kuzma and trade Ingram because they thought Kuzma was the more ‘playoff ready’ player due to being older and heavier.

No GM worth anything would choose Kuzma over Ingram in an AD trade. Don't think it was the Lakers choice. Cap wise, keeping keep Ball or Ingram salary vs Kuzma makes it harder to make additional moves.

That could be interesting.

Again though, I doubt Charlotte is interested.

with no one to realistically pursue in FA, no valuable assets..it is better to do nothing ..?
Hayward or even Blake / KLove, ... be clear improvements. If they stay healthy, be contenders. If it goes wrong, what do we lose .. ?? Powell + johnson expiring + maybe Brunson or Rookie (that Rick won't play anyway .. ??.)
I'll personally take a chance ... (would take even Horford)

With the difficulty of matching salary to trade for AD to begin with (and avoid having to S&T their free agents that had little or no value), Ingram simply had to be part of the trade, and New Orleans chose other 1sts instead of Kuzma.

The Lakers kept Kuzma because they could, and because he wasn’t necessary in the deal for salary matching. It wasn’t that he was viewed as better or more valuable as Ingram. LA didn’t chose to keep Kuzma over Ingram. New Orleans chose Ingram over Kuzma, and the deal required his involvement.

Nah, Charlotte have liked Hayward for years, hence the massive offer.

Spencer Dinwiddie has partial tear of ACL [Shams]

Post#974 » by DeathLineup » Mon Dec 28, 2020 3:57 pm

2021 free agent class just took another blow. Dinwiddie won't get the bag next offseason. I feel bad for him.

With a partial tear of the ACL, he should be clear to go for training camp next season. I would bet that he won’t be too terribly financially hurt by this injury.

TNT related thought - Well, there goes any chance at a Harden trade.

Otherwise:
Sucks for Dinwiddie as he was set for a nice pay day next summer
Sucks for Dinwiddie as he was starting on a potential contender
Sucks for the Nets as he was really showing nice glue-guy and defense next to Kyrie

The only saving grace is that the Nets are loaded with ball-handlers (Irving, LeVert, T.Johnson, Chiozza, B.Brown, Shamet).

His stats during the first three games have been bad. And now he got this ugly injury.

Before injury, I was expecting Dinwiddie to sign a contract similar to Bogdan Bogdanovic next year. But now I think his ceiling would be Jordan Clarkson's contract. That's a pretty big hit.

I don't necessarily know about that. It does give them another hole to fill though.

Yeah, there's never a good time to miss a season, but it's even less good when it's a contract year on a contender. The good news for him is still that it's a quickly-thinning FA crop next year so he may get attention anyway.

He was playing the Glue Guy/Defender role and doing well.
If anything he showed he could be effective at SG and low usage, though at the same it was 64 total minutes so small sample, just like the stats. Doubt his value took a hit outside of the injury.
