Game 2: Minnesota Timberwolves (1-0) @ Utah Jazz (1-0)

Post#1 » by Crunch 99 » Fri Dec 25, 2020 4:47 pm

Merry Christmas everyone! Game two is tomorrow, Saturday the 26th.

Minnesota number one pick Anthony Edwards had a solid NBA debut: 15 points on 12 attempts with 4 assists and 4 rebs coming off the bench. All the rookies had massively reduced, pre-season development time, so producing in game one was an extra impressive accomplishment.

DeAngelo Russell started the Wolves' first two preseason games, two losses, with Rubio coming off the bench. Rubio started the third preseason game, a win, with Russell coming off the bench. Rubio also started game one regular season in a win over the Pistons.

Rubio played very well against the Jazz last season, averaging 16 points on 11 attempts with 9.5 ast, 8 rebs and 3.5 stl while going 1-1. I still root for Rubio except for when he is playing the Jazz. I hope Conley bombs the Wolves with threes tomorrow. Go Jazz!

This should be a double-digit win for the Jazz. The Jazz have a history of being sluggish on the day after Christmas, but they still have enough talent to win this comfortably if they play decent defense. T'wolves will try to score one-on-one and jack a bunch of 3s.

Rubio is back with the Wolves? How'd I miss that?

Russel will start this one. He was late for shootaround and removed from S5 last minute. And he missed last preseason game. Rubio comes off the bench now. But don't worry he will find a way to kick the Jazz in the ass. And Utah always tends to underestimate the Wolves.

Thanks for the info. After the good season Rubio just had, where he was ranked number three in the entire NBA for ast/game, #10 for PGs on RPM, #5 for PGs on WINS and #11 for starting PGs on TS%, it is a shame he is demoted to coming off the bench. I am not sure he will flourish there. Actually, I would have really liked to have seen him continue building chemistry with the Suns' players following their strong finish in the bubble.

Russell will probably get his points, but hopefully the Jazz players will light up Russell even more on the other end.

Russell might light us up with offense, but hopefully the Jazz players will light up Russell even more on the other end.

Rubio will get staggered with Dlo to have one out there at all times, but will likely end up the game with the starters like he did against Detroit. But I think this front office brought him to develop Edwards and play P&R with KAT when Dlo isn't out there.

The fact that Favors has started out the first two games listed as GTD is concerning given his health history, but at least he is green colored GTD, which means very likely. I hope his knees can withstand a consistent 16 to 20 mins per game of aggressive play this season. Favors is a critical piece for our success.

Minnesota figures to be near the bottom of the west this year. Still, have to worry about KAT taking Gobert out to the perimeter every single play.

Gobert always frustrates KAT... hope that continues tonight.

Nevermind... ATT Sports net reported they were broadcasting Shogun Fights - Then at 630 I heard Alema and Booner. Typical of ATT

I picked up Rubio on my fantasy draft based off the year he had with the Suns. I never thought I’d be one of the bastards to trade Rubio.
