This pandemic is wicked and obviously doesn't discriminate so while it's really tempting to pile on Malik I'm going to choose to show compassion and apply positive intent - and assume that he wasn't being irresponsible and/or reckless and innocently contracted the virus.

Hope he gets the all clear soon and can rejoin the team asap.

Was really hoping for a Jeremy Lamb-esque extension for Malik. Oh well

They’re not taking those risks after what the last regime has done. He will need a big season to get that second contract.

If Monk does not emerge as a nobrainer 6-7th best player on this team moving forward then we should not be offering him another contract, unless it is below 10 million. I like him and he is young, but no need to sign him just to sign him if we can't count on him moving forward.

I agree with seeing how this plays out with both him and DG.

Hoping for a good showing with Ball, Bridges, and Monk tonight and for the first few games. Chemistry is so important on both ends of the court.

Well, Monk would need to see the court in order for that to happen.

We probably should have given him some playing time at the start of the third quarter seeing as though we were down by 21.

Yeah, it's pathetic that the coach did not see this combination as a way out of the paper bag.

It does seem like this line up would be fun to watch (though terrible on defense). I just don't think Monk is that good at professional basketball (yet?).

Ball has basically taken Monks spot in the rotation. I think we need his finishing and playmaking on the court. I wish we could merge Cody Martin and Monk into one player. They’d be an all star lol

If Monk sits while the team loses game after game, trade him already. I am seeing shades of Clifford.

After Zeller's injury, of course, the team may be actively looking to trade Monk for a serviceable and experienced center. So he rides the pine.

After tonight’s loss, JB complained about our ability to finish at the rim and how poor it was. (Checks roster for best rim finisher) ah there he is. Let’s bench him and instead play the Martin twins and Jalen McDaniels.

Is this some kind of punishment from last year or for getting covid? Monk was our best player at certain points last season and he looked just fine in the preseason. Put him on the court with LaMelo and Bridges together and you’ll see rim efficiency.

My only guess is JB wants an extended look at McDaniels and the Martins so JB can decide which one he wants to replace with Monk as soon as Monk catches up on conditioning after missing 1 week of practice due to COVID. In one preseason game, Monk only played 5 minutes. jB yanked him. He rested and came right back in the game. We have no idea how JB is coaching up Monk behind the scenes. With Clifford it always felt like there was a real doghouse and what you saw on the court was likely the same during practice. I don't think it makes sense that Monk enjoyed the best streak of his career only to be banished permanently to the bench before getting a chance to build on that stretch.

I hope he gets into the rotation soon. I just like what he brings to the court for us and I feel like we are wasting the last real chance we have to evaluate him and if he’s in our future or not. We need his finishing at that rim and creation badly.

No worries, JB will definitely give him another chance to play himself back into the rotation. I think he just needs to get himself in shape and prove in practice that he is better than one of the Martin twins first.

The actually crazy part is that the Martin twins have "solidified their spots"....???????
