It wasn’t about taking a 3, it was about getting an open shot. Refs notoriously do not call fouls at end of game, so driving and throwing up a contested layup is probably a harder shot to make than a jumper. It wasn’t a bad look; Levert is just a really inconsistent shooter.

Exactly... for an inconsistent shooter... driving to the basketball seems like the better choice...

Levert’s shooting ability is the difference between him being a 6th man and being a legit star.

Having a consistent shot would open up so many things for his game, but because he’s a streaker shooter, defenders can overplay his drive and pack the paint. With a more reliable jump shot, defenders would have to be more honest and it would open up driving lanes for him better.
