Last game he played 6 minutes, didn't score. Of course he was going to go nuts against us.

Also, what's up with Dame always playing well against us?

Our defense broke down. Nurkic was getting free layups down the middle of the lane in the fourth. Good teaching game.

Kuzma sucked.

Was I the only one who was missing Caruso tonight.. Y'all already forgotten about the Goat?

Thought he would've changed the game tonight with a couple of steals and forcing Dame and Trent outta their rhythm.

It's all good
Kuzma is still inconsistent. But we can definitely see improvement in his game through out the years. Gotta continue to mature and try to impact the game in ways other than scoring when your shots are not falling.

We have a few new players along with the upcoming THT to blend with our established team. Definitely need time to gel as a team and accommodate the come and go of players with new offensive and defensive set up/strategy.

James and AD play too much especially in a back to back game for James. Averaging 28-30 mins a game would be ideal for me after the shortened offseason. The rest of the mins go to Caruso, Mathews and Morris. THT will get minutes when we need that offensive punch from our bench like we did in the later part of the first quarter in today's game when we have a scoring drought.

Overall, i reckon they were not even trying very hard on court despite the long playing time of James and AD. They are trying out sets and formations on different teams and spotting our own weaknesses.

We've lost games only when one or two players of the opposing team gets super streaky hot. I'd take that this season over losing due to deeply founded defensive issues.

You had to expect Portland to get up for the Lakers, but Portland had horrible defense their first two games then all of a sudden it's decent against the Lakers. Harden and a bunch of G leaguers were lighting them up the other night.

Wonder if Carmelo wasn't out for Covid then maybe Trent wouldn't have been getting those shots

Dame is a top 7 player, he plays well against nearly everyone.

Portland has a drastically different team from the one that was in the bubble. They’ve had no real camp, a mini preseason and now into regular games. There’s been no time for the new pieces to get adjusted, so it’s expected for there to be some rocky bits to start out the year.

League wide, I’m surprised how many people are drawing so many conclusions on players and teams one week in. It’s kinda ridiculous to not consider the context the league is playing in right now.

Saying the defense was horrible their first 2 games isn't drawing a conclusion, it's just what it was.

And most teams are in flux. The lakers don't have their rotation down and are not sure how to fit players in right now.

Exactly my point. Every team is still working out the kinks and trying to get into a rhythm. Defenses will be off, rotations will be messy, players will have off nights... gonna happen. Not trying to point you out, just making a general statement about RGM and NBA Twitter as a whole. Seen a lot of bad takes with zero context for a weird season.

Damn straight he was waiting for this game, he played against Lebron and Rich Paul is his agent so he had to prove his worth since he hits free agency next summer.

Perhaps a weird take, but I thought Schröder's performance cost us the game. He didn't play within the system or tried to facilitate, merely trying to be the beneficiary of the outcome, by having some weird mano a mano against Lillard, which he'll always lose. He didn't allow many of our players to get a rhythm by a constantly driving without letting others get the feel of the ball. I thought he didn't play smart for a point guard and he needs to be either told by the coaching staff or the players to get the others more involved.

Read on Twitter

Denver abused him in the playoffs last year doing this same thing. He can’t stay on the court against quick PGs that can shoot like Lillard/Murray/Mitchell etc.

Couple things. We shouldn't compare Doc Rivers to Vogel, and the plays in that video are easily fixable with a film session. Trez is it out of position. Lakers need to figure out how they are going to guard the PnR. It seems like Trez is half committed. Lakers are still filling each other out, it's going to take sometime.

Trez struggles to keep kantar off the boards but that's what kantar does. Even with that Lakers were only out rebounded by 4. I didn't see anything in this game at all that has me worried

Why is this guy behind Matthews for example in the pecking order(don't get me started on the others). What's the logical explanation for this besides age?

This is getting more ridiculous with each passing day. You play the player by his skills/production, not by age/reputation.

It's a travesty. It's dumb coaching, no sugarcoating it.

No, Caruso was a major factor how they contained the Blazers back-court in the playoffs but they also missed Danny Green's defense, along with AD's usual deadly self.
It's a shame they wasted Lebron's energy and also wasting home court advantage.

Please remember that Lakers brought in Matthews to replace Danny Green, unfortunately, Wes just replaced Green's "offense" last night. :nonono:
