We should trade for Dinwiddie.

Post#1 » by bstein14 » Mon Dec 28, 2020 11:05 pm

He is out for season which is perfect for us. Get his bird rights and sell him on being our #1 option next year.

Could Wright or Rose get it done for us? Would not include a future first for him but he is worth getting if the Nets just want another rotation player.

No thanks. Just drafted our future pg. No need to stick a vet in front of him. Also, he's already 27.

Rose for Dinwiddie + a 2nd rounder

Get Rose out of here and if Dinwiddie walks then whatever.

I don’t want anything to do with Dinwiddie. Brooklyn has championship aspirations though. Rose would be great for them.

Not sure what they have to offer though.

Rose is actually worth something decent. He’s a good fit on a lot of contenders. Think we will get back something decent for him this year.

Seems like we will have a decent chance at Cunningham or one of the many guards at the top of the lotto in 69 more games. Not sure I want to add there over the frontcourt.

No.

While Dinwiddie isn't Blake, that kind of move has the same smell to it. Rushing around to improve RIGHT NOW. Give it time and build something the right way that's sustainable.

Now, obviously in today's NBA "sustainable" generally means 3 years or so and probably no more than 5, but that's today's reality. Players today are "now now now" relative to both money and championships so that's all that can realistically be expected. Build a championship team with mostly team-controlled young players and maybe a star or two, win a championship, then expect that some of the young players are then going to go after the most money available to them. Hopefully by that time a winning culture has been established such that a key player or two can leave, be replaced by a player or two who fit the culture, and keep winning at a high level.

May as well get Drummond too. Then tonight we'll have a party like it's 1989.

Dinwiddie/Kennard/Middletton/Wood/Drummond would've been a good team.

I won’t argue that. Given where their careers/salaries are right now though (and assuming all their salaries are pretty fair), could that team be afforded under today’s salary cap? Admittedly I’m not a big salary cap numbers guy and don’t feel like doing the research, but it sure seems like that’s a lot of money.

I'd only want Dinwiddie if I could pay him in virtual currency where I decide what it's worth. :)

Easily. We wouldn't even be close to the luxury tax. We would be able to use the MLE next year to add someone.

Andre Drummond 27 C Bird $28,751,775
Christian Wood 25 PF Sign $13,015,874
Luke Kennard 24 SG Bird $12,727,273
Spencer Dinwiddie27 PG Cap $11,454,048
Josh Jackson 23 SG Room $4,767,000
Sekou Doumbouya 19 SF Rookie $3,449,400
Killian Hayes 19 PG Rookie $5,307,120
Svia Mykhailiuk 23 SG Cap $1,663,861
Jahlil Okafor 24 C Minimum $1,882,867
Wayne Ellington 32 SG Minimum $2,564,753

Rose and Ellington make 11 million, what Dinwiddie makes.

Rose and Ellington for Dinwiddie and Brooklynn's 2021 1st round pick?

Might be 30, might be a lot lower if Kyrie or Durant get injured.
