Since John Collins did not sign an extension, he's most likely going into the next free agency as a restricted free agent. In my opinion, Collins is the perfect candidate to go all out on. The Mavericks could make an offer Atlanta couldn't match (considering Atlanta just filled their cap room) - and he's the right type of versatile player for the Mavericks.

Yeah I'd take a shot on signing Collins. He's durable. Needed when you gave KP missing games. Can shoot the 3. Active on the P&R. 20-10 on 63% TS is no joke.

Reading Zach Collins may only fetch 10 to 12 million a year with 12 being the max the Blazers would likely match. If that's the case Id be willing to gamble on him, bring back Jrich, and should have 13 to 16 million to sign a SG or Timmy. Could lso go over the cap with Jrich too.

Yeah I'd take a flyer on Collins if that were the case. $10M is essentially MLE money in 2023 or 2024. His skill base is limited for now and he's certainly a project still. I guess that has to be clear from the start.

I'm interested to see what Trent Jr gets this offseason and if he can be a starter.

He already turned down 53m from Portland.ejs78 wrote:I'm interested to see what Trent Jr gets this offseason and if he can be a starter.

He knows he's worth more and has confidence I'm himself.
Portland has always needed to move CJ's salary to fill other needs on the team. They better keep Gary Trent.

WOuld be moot if we actually drafted him since he fit a position of need and had familial tied to the organization rather than draft Brunson when we already had DSJ, Barea, harris, potentially Yogi, and a freshly drafted Luka. But Carlisle and Rick brunson are apparently very close, so coach doing dad a favor surely trumps what's best for the team.

Former Mav Isaiah Roby as a starter- 19 points 9-12 FG, 1-2 from the 3, 7 rebs, 2 blks, played 28 mins. And broke Vuc's ankles lol
Played solid D.
Glad he is getting his playing time in the OKC. I hope he thrives there.

Trent Jr is interesting. He can guard point guards like Richardson guards forwards. Shoots at a high clip. Essentially a Marcus Smart.
Might cost us Wesley Matthews money to bring him here. that's $18M or above I think? But the fit should be good. Trent Jr and Richardson flanking Luka. He's also 6'6'. So I would think he can guard 1 to 3.

Both in preseason and last night, he's looked like he might have some potential as a bench guy. I read somewhere that he looks like porcelain doll and that's about all I've remembered him for until now. Hopefully the Vucevic ankle breaking will replace that.

John Wall talking his injury up as if he's NFL QB Alex Smith who had 17 surgeries and nearly loss his leg.
“I went through three or four different infections. So it got to the point where, OK, are you going to have to cut your foot off or not? That’s where it got real with me.” Rockets guard @JohnWall sits down with our NBA Insider @ShamsCharania .

Nice to see a fellow Chiefs fan on the board.
I liked Roby and was really pulling for the guy. He's in a good situation now and hopefully for him and you he'll succeed. It is tough for rookies to get opportunities on the Mavs.

Man do I wish the Mavs would have landed Haliburton on draft night as the rumors suggest. Kid is really good

Yeah. That kid is good. Too bad no one wanted to part with their top 10 pick with our assets. My bet is we dangled Seth Curry + a pick swap and no one budged.

Let’s hope not. Green and Terry are years away from having any sort of impact on a game.

We have to understand that they have a Luka type of a jump in performance before Carlisle plays them meaningful minutes. Carlisle doesn't play of develop rookies. He's not that type of coach. He needs finished products or vets who already knows what he wants before they can see floor time. He's just a different type of coach. Billy Donovan, Scott Brooks, those have longer leashes for developing youth. Carlisle has a reputation in the league where he is at the ear of Jason Kidd for every play one season. Yes, 18 year veteran Jason Kidd needed micromanaging. They were laughing at him in one episode of The Jump in ESPN. I think they were wishing Isiah Roby good luck under Carlisle because of that.

Imagine if we drafted Siddique Bey as almost every single person (fan, announcer, commentator) outside of Nelson/Cuban/Carlisle would have.
