I laugh when I hear Max and Scream A say the Rockets need to trade Harden. Rockets lose money soon as they trade him.
Rockets a more fun team to watch now

I EASILY give up Herro in a package for Beal because of the window with Butler, if Butler wasn't in Miami maybe I don't. I had hoped fans would realize how close this team is after the finals watching Butler will this team to 2 wins in the playoffs but I guess not. It's VERY possible Miami won't have another player who can do what Butler can do on the biggest stage for a long, long time.
Based on what Herro did for us in the playoffs, how he is taking form now, and comparing it to the type of contributions Beal can make, my question to you is how much extra would Beal be bringing to the table? Is Beal enough to do addition by subtraction? How much subtracting are you talking about to add just one extra player into a role/position already filled by a young player that seems to be doing a fine job of growing into that role?
I know you are hell bent on making a trade, but it seems you are looking to throw caution to the wind just to get Butler help. You are willing to throw our assets at any shiny object for instant gratification regardless. I’ve said it before, absorbing Oladipo into our cap space next year is a better move than addition by subtraction of what has been proposed for players like Harden and Beal. KO, Iggy, Nunn, and a first for Oladipo at trade deadline is the most I would consider moving. If Wizards would take something similar for Beal, then of course I prefer Beal! But why pay an arm and a leg for Beal when we can get a similar player in Oladipo for much less!
Herro had 16/94 games scoring 20+ points last season.
Herro scored single digits in 20/94 games
and only scored 30+ 2 times.
Beal scored <15pts once last season
Beal only scored <20pts in 7/64 last season
Beal scored 30+ pts 31/64 games
Beal scored 40+ pts 10/64 games
Beal scored 50+ pts 2 times
I like the idea of adding Oladipo into our cap space next year too, but make no mistake Beal is a massive upgrade to Herro. Beal to me is worth trading the combination of Herro/Robinson.
Beal is capable of doing everything Herro and Robinson can do in our offense at a far more consistent level. Would also allow us to have more defensive punch on the floor consolidating Herro and Robinson's roles into one player.
If a trade for Beal starts getting into a Herro, Robinson, Precious and KZ plus picks type package then that would give me reason to pause.

Beal is the better player but he also benefits, stat wise, from being on a bad team.
Beal also averaged around 9 more minutes a night than Herro last year.
The Wizards, with their lack of talent, had no choice but to feature him on offense every game.

If we could keep Robinson in a Beal deal then we’d constantly have at least 1 player on the floor that has to be constantly tracked and never left. Having 2 creates more driving space for Jimmy/Bam to work with, and if that 5th player is someone like BA then we have strong D as well.

I think for us to win a championship Butler can't be our go to scorer and give us everything we need from him defensively at the same time. We need Herro to be able to take on a lot of that responsibility to maximise this teams success. I'm not sure he'll be ready to take on that responsibility for another 3yrs or more.
I think Beal would pretty easily average 25/4/5 with Miami even if he wasn't featured as much as he is in Washington. With Jimmy and Bam both working to get him open shots as well as his ability to get his own shot he would be fine.
Outside of John Wall I can't think of a good defensive player Beal has played with for most of his career. Putting him on a team with guys like Butler, Bam and Bradley would make a big difference to the success of his team with his scoring punch.

Now I got that rant out lol. I assuming we will see more opportunities of Herro running point even though it was obvious they took a lot of it out of his hands. IMO an adjustment Herro can take is for him to quickly run the ball up court instead of jogging it and letting the defender press.dean456 wrote:Beenie wrote:dean456 wrote:

I'm not sold that Beal would average 25 on the Heat.
The team isn't structured that way, (perhaps an elite scorer like Harden would, but probably not a second-tier scorer like Beal.)
The last 2 seasons are the only seasons that Beal has averaged 25 points or more and I don't think it was a coincidence that Wall was mostly out during that same period of time.
With Wall out, the offense completely catered to Beal.
I do think he'd be an immediate upgrade over Herro but not enough of one to put the team over the top and considering the price it would take to get him, I don't think the juice would be worth the squeeze.

Gonna wait a few months to assess Wall, but he looks good for being fresh off of two yrs. KD, Wall, Rose, even Dragic coming back from tough injuries really says something about the current state of medicine/research/physical therapy. On a slightly unrelated note, even how quick the Covid vaccine has been administered.
.
Wiz sent a first round pick to get Russ; bad teams stay bad. Beal has gotten better Wiz teams than Wall had early on, still continues to lead very bad teams

Herro and Robinson alone account for 20 shot attempts a game and 37% usage rate which is basically what Beal averages. If our team makes a consolidation trade for someone like Beal or Harden we will need to make up for the production of players we trade We wouldn't be so balanced offensively as we have been in recent years.
I'm curious how you see someone like Devin Booker as a scorer? I feel like most would view him higher than Beal even though their numbers are relatively comparable and their teams have had about equal amounts of success or lack there of, even though Washington compared to Phoenix I would say have been run much worse over the last 10yrs.
