Is RJ Barrett a beast?

Post#1 » by iLLmatic860 » Fri Jan 1, 2021 6:06 am

Ive heard this several times tonight amongst many Knick fans and especially non Knick fans

I wouldn't call him a bust. Hes def a rotation player

But at a top 3 pick. I dont see the star potential off these last 4 games

He's not a bust yet - too young and talented to make that declaration.

He's definitely given some strong indications that he might be though.

He’s too young to label just yet. We ain’t playing to his strengths. He should be a slasher ala spree
Do I like his shot? It’s broke. But I like how he keeps going.. keeps his competitiveness. A lot of times you don’t see it in a player. We’re just beginning to see flashes from Knox and he’s in year 3 and way more raw. Just give it time.. that’s all we have, right?

Do you see star potential in Luka, Dame Lillard and Donovan Mitchell off the last 4 games?

Lmao give me a break with this. Idk how many times people have to say it over and over. He’s 20 and he’s not in the best spacing situation right now to succeed. He’s working on his shot and ignoring his elite trait of driving because he’s in his own head.

If people here thought this kid was going to come out and dominate straight away and be a #1 option, then that’s on them.
Can’t call RJ a bust but give every excuse in the world to Knox, Frank, Mitch & DSJ.

Not a bust but I’m gonna say this again, he’s more of a 3rd option type guy. He has no iso game and a mediocre handle. I think eventually he’ll start hitting 3’s though. I’m not too worried about RJ but we need a better shot creating wing next to him. Aka Jalen Green.

I will never understand why Knicks fans are so mercurial. A few games back, RJ was looking solid. How about you allow the chemistry to reform when some key players return?

What’s so talented about him? Seriously. What does he do well? I don’t see it.

When I watch him I just don’t really enjoy it.. nothing about his game is exciting and most of the time it looks like a struggle.. I’ll be honest I don’t think he’s the worst player ever so he’s not a complete bust in that sense, but I have a hard time seeing him being a multi time all star at this point which is ideally what you want from your number 3 pick in a draft. So he is a bust in that sense to me

Because if RJ can’t hit outside shots/3s then he’s the one ruining the chemistry. His defenders are now collapsing off him daring him to shoot it.

Yeah like this pole isn't going to be skewed after his last two games.

Maaan, this is the realest assessment of him I've seen.

It's exactly what I felt watching a specific play against the TOR scrubs in garbage time tonight where he drove left, went up for the authoritative slam, and looked like he got rejected by the rim. Just no natural lift/explosion at the level you were expecting watching the move start from a super young, former third overall pick in the draft.

I mean he’s basically continuing how most of his rookie season went. A bunch of highly inefficient games with a few great games sprinkled in here and there

Here's a few pages of reading skewed in the other direction if you're seeking to balance it out.

By time he puts it together (if he ever does) it won’t be in a Knicks uni

RJ is Corey Maggette reincarnated. Sucks at having actual basketball skill.. his man attribute is that he’s aggressive.. most times too aggressive for the good of the team

I know this is prejudiced and, yes, there are exceptions, but I'm racist against lefty shooters. Can't trust 'em.
