2020-21 Stats

Post#1 » by yosemiteben » Wed Dec 30, 2020 6:51 pm

Somehow Bonnell is the one posting advanced stats that is prompting me to start this thread. Let's use this for random team related stats, feel free to post player specific ones here or in the player thread.

It's a little early to be making conclusions, but it isnt surprising that the starters aren't playing well together. Graham and Washington have started the season cold and Biz remains a huge negative on offense. While I doubt that group will ever be an elite offense I expect the numbers will get a lot better when/if Graham and Washington start playing better.

Sure, I'll add one too. I figure alarming or cool outliers and trends belong somewhere other than buried within game threads...

Miles Bridges has yet to attempt a free throw this season.

This is why I would trade for Markkanen and say "**** it" to the defense

We need frontcourt scoring, plain and simple. We are going to continue to lose until we get it.

Adding my stat that I posted the other day. After three games there is a nearly 50 point plus minus difference between Graham and Terry. With Graham + 21, Terry - 30. That is a bit alarming considering they've played about 60 or 70% of their minutes together.

Its cool. plus/minus by itself is always kinda ridiculous. weighted +/- and similar pulls are the way to go there.

the lineup stuff is pretty interesting though

Really hoping Graham / Rozier, Ball, Hayward, Miles, PJ is sustainable as a + lineup because that is a damn fun lineup to watch.

Currently, Devonte leads the league with his AST/TO ratio.

Spoiler:
(never mind the fact he throws grenades to guys and has no problems putting people in terrible positions with the ball)

Ball Rozier Hayward Miles Washington is probably our best lineup but can't be played heavy minutes because of size and defense

WhichCarolina
@WhichCarolina
Charlotte #Hornets lineup of:

Graham/Rozier/Hayward/Bridges/Washington is (+36.1) in 50 possessions on the year per
@cleantheglass

This is the lineup that closed the game for CLT in the ATL win and had some nice moments last night win over NOP as well.

-------------

Richie
@RichieRandall
Just as importantly, it features PJ Washington at the 5 — where the team's performed much better. The team is getting to their spots on offense and pushing the pace.

PJW playing with a C (-17.3)
PPP: 0.91
Allowed PPP: 1.08

PJW playing as the C (+9.8)
PPP: 1.17
Allowed PPP: 1.07

Whaaaa??? We are better with our small ball lineup? These stats can not be correct. There are so many armchair QB's on here who claim that small ball lineup is why we are bad.

Wait - so you think PJ has been playing well at the 5?

You don’t attribute any success to moments where Terry, Gordon or Miles have played out of their minds?

PJ has sucked at the 4 and especially at the 5. We are not winning or playing well because of #smallball.

Plus, when PJ is t playing the 5 Biz is - and Biz ain’t great so the bar is set low when he’s playing the 5 so the numbers are skewed.

I don’t know what to say man. You’re so blinded by your own narrative that you can’t see the forest for the trees.

You’ve got to come around to the reality that sport is not played on paper.
