Given Tatum and Brown's shotcreating woes, Nickeil over Romeo seems like a missed opportunity. Maybe their whole existence wouldn't have been thrown off by a Kemba injury.

On what, the 21% of his FGA that he even attempts at the rim?

Let's not forget his pathetic .16 free throw rate.

Tatum is extremely overrated.

We are still yet to see if we can beat the Celtics in a playoff series. And if we can' beat them, where does this put our stars? It's a bit of a depressing thought to me since I also don't consider Tatum to be "the player".

Ehhh. Nickeil isnt any difference maker. Romeo was the better prospect. Injuries have just derailed his development. Nickeil is just a guy. He's not making them any better.

I disagree. Romeo was a 5 star that had great scoring production as a freshman, but that's the extent of his appeal, IMO. His skillset sucks. Pseudo-creator at best that can't guard anyone and he doesn't even offer any shooting ability to make-up for it.

Nickeil is a way more talented ball handler/shotcreator and just had a flatout more well-rounded game when you account for his passing and defense. Whether through being an ace bench player or a strong starter, Nickeil is going to be an impactful player in this league. His per-minute production in a crowded backcourt points to the promise. He's begging for a trade to breakout.

Agreed. We don't have a perimeter star, either. We're kind of resigned to that fact, though. Celtics fans think both Tatum and Brown are perimeter stars and yet outside of a bubble playoff tournament, Tatum has been a pseudo-creator at best. Brown doesn't even get a chance in a creating role.

The future of the Eastern Conference was on display with Hawks/Cavs. Great game. Sexton has passed a lot of young players in the conference drafted before him. He's one of the best guards in the conference.

Porter was off the board when the Suns were picking at 16.

And if you're referring to just outright taking Porter at #10, Alexander was still a far better pick to make than Porter.

I don't really have a rule of thumb for this, but if a guy has elite size and length for his position, spent his entire early life learning the fundamentals of basketball (especially from a soon-to-be HOF like Tony Parker), has elite shooting ability, and declares for the draft at 19, they are worth a pick, especially in the second round.

I understand the circumstances of our trade was necessary, but it sucks to miss out on a prospect like this.

I'm not going to dump on Brett for Wood because plenty of coaches refuse to play rookies who don't know how to play basketball. But it was obvious that Wood was a player worth being patient for. He wasn't even that bad, despite looking clueless always.

I feel like Morey would have kept him.

Maybe, maybe not. Don't forget that Morey waived Robert Covington for no reason.

I've watched a few of their games. Yeah, this dude can play a little bit. I didn't know it at the time, but he should have been a 1st round pick. He's 10x better than the guy the Thunder selected at #19, Pokusevski. Pokusevski shouldn't be in the league, and will take years to become useful.

Was he projected to have elite shooting ability though? If so, I don’t think he would have slipped. Does seem like a useful player. Would have been nice to see us call up Paul Reed while Scott is hurt to see what we’ve got there.

Damn he was my 4th favorite prospect:
Double O
Haliburton
Vassell
Maledon

Thought for sure these were can’t miss prospects. Had him comfortably over Hayes as the best euro pg in the draft (2/3rd overallbest pg if Ball’s shot didn’t translate).

Funnily enough both Haliburton/Maledon I thought would go a lot higher (both steals imo) and both O.O and Vassell would go a tad bit lower lmao

All of em aren’t the sexiest picks but for me besides Williams & Adjiva they looked like the most polished/nba ready game from the draft.

Oh no the Nets are so scary! KD and Kyrie will destroy us!

Wizards 123 @ Nets 122 - Final tonight

There are exactly ZERO great teams in the East, or in the entire NBA for that matter. No one to be afraid of.
