Re: Around the NBA II
kind of amazing that the lakers traded basically everything they had for AD. he's still a great player but if you're that size with those skills, how are you not punishing them on every possession?

If they do get bounced (and we advance and hopefully make it to the finals) I'll rub it in thoughmttwlsn16 wrote:NippySudz wrote:mttwlsn16 wrote:I'm torn between enjoying Laker tears and wanting them to win so we can knock them out.
Lebron vs Kawhi is the closest thing we'll get to LeBron vs Kobe(or mj) that we were supposed to get years ago, but lebron was bounced by the magic.
I hope history doesn't repeat itself and the lakers get bounced out early. The houston rockets don't care about anyone other than AD or LeBron. They are content with guys taking jumpers.
That's all I'd care about too. Try to stop AD and Bron. Let everyone else shoot all day.
AD is soft. Pj tucker could very well physically dominate him unless AD grows a pair.

Donovan's obsession with playing a clearly ineffective Steven Adams was very Doc-esque.
It's definitely true that basically every coach to some extent will go with what has been working all season, since obviously you don't simply throw away your strategy and rotations every quarter or half, but some coaches are definitely more stubborn than others.
Luckily the difference between them is that Doc almost totally sidelined Zubac vs GS last season and vs Dallas played Harrell 15 minutes and Zubac 33 minutes in the close game 6. Donovan on the other hand played Adams 34 minutes in game 7 and had him up from 26.7 mpg in the regular season to 30.0 mpg in the series. Yea, even Doc doesn't do that. Heck, I remember that even Doc in the closing game 6 vs Memphis in 2013 and game 6 vs OKC in 2016 limited Jamal Crawford's minutes as soon as he saw that his shot was off those nights because if he isn't cooking, he wasn't valuable.

strategy vs. tactics, long-term plan versus trying to win every battle [by 20 points]
I used to criticize Lob City Doc for playing every game like a Game 7 even during the regular season, emphasizing seeding above all. We would arrive at the playoffs tired and limping, and our bench useless. This is not the same Coach Rivers as 5 years ago. We are as healthy and rested as possible, and even if Patterson or McGruder is pressed into rotation minutes, they're ready to go.
And if Trezz recovers his game, before it's all over we're gonna be damned glad Doc invested those minutes in him vs. Dallas.

Bucks have been eliminated. Budenholzer should be fired.

When they get the lead they just cruise to win. Unlike Clippers.

If the Lakers finish off the Rockets on Saturday, Clippers can't screw around and let it get to game 7.

Lakers keep getting better. I imagine they’ll be landing a wing next with Green gone.

If this happens, look, Doc is one coach that can't complain about the talent he's been handed for the majority of his last 13 seasons, but dude better come through.

Re: Around the NBA II
Harden going on his 4th team in 4 years.
Traded away Lou/Trez/Bev for CP3
Traded away CP3 for Westbrook
Traded away Westbrook for Wall
now wants to be traded
then getting COVID exposure at the tittybar
I dont even hate his game but this guy is poison
____________
If he's traded that's FIVE teams, right??

Spencer Dinwiddie will miss the remainder of the 20-21 season with a partially torn ACL.
Ouch.

Looks like the NBA's golden boy Damian Lillard had his own Paul George moment tonight.

They hugged it out afterwards.
I think Dame may be a bit jealous of Steph because he grew up a Warriors fan and it's someone else having a HoF career playing for his childhood team.

He’s also jealous of Steph’s position. Do I think Lillard is better than Steph? Not at all. Would Lillard have had more success than Steph if they switched places since 13-14, of course.
