Do you think Piston fans want him to fail? No, we don’t get a 7th pick too often where they are expected to be a good player. Just look how much more polished Bey looks. It’s not fun to see Killian look so bad at times. He has shot ALOT of air balls. He has had a lot of bad turnovers. His passing has looked bad. I was excited to watch some Piston rookies this year, it’s cool we are getting to see them, but the expectations for Killian considering he was the 7th overall pick are higher. Both Bey and Stewart, look more like Piston material. Killian’s play has been poor, if only he showed glimpses of potential, but IMO, he hasn’t. Give us fans something to believe he can be an adequate player, he hasn’t yet. It’s not hate, it’s disappointment.

Your reaction after 6 games and no offseason is simply not proportional with reality.

There's no point for me to continue to try and talk sense into someone like this. So I won't. Foe list is growing by two tonight.

You may not like what he is saying, but he is not wrong. He never said Hayes can't improve either, Hayes has been unplayable bad, and today he had terrible attitude he crossed a line. He had a turnover where he got frustrated and did not went back to the defense and we played 4 on 5. That's not acceptable. With that kind of attitude he doesn't deserve to wear that jersey.

And people here are treating him the same way they treated Brandon Knight and Stanley Johnson.

He's making suggestions that Hayes shouldn't be playing when there is literally no other method of learning and getting better available. Bad games are going to hsppen. A lot. Casey will give him an earful if he hasn't already. And then he will do it again; hopefully making slightly less mistakes. Hopefully, a tad more comfortable. Hopefully with a tad more composure. It's how you learn.

People unhappily dumping all over a 19 year old after 6 games is just asinine and not really worth paying heed to. I freely admit making that mistake.

If not for the hayes injury, this would be a great game. Hanging tough against a great team playing all the young guys heavy minutes.

I like that he CAN SHOOT the three, but he also puts it on the floor. He drives pretty well, I just want to see him go a little stronger when finishing. Overall, I like what I see, he looks pretty big out there. Nice size and he rebounds pretty well when he is in position.

Why you so concern about an offseason? Hayes played in a PROFESSIONAL league in Europe! However, his play doesn't reflect that. Again, as Jack and others mentioned, you should see some glimpses of something. Supposedly he worked on using in right hand but that isn't the case. What I'm mostly disappointed is the kid looks and plays soft...he ain't Piston tough like Bey and Stew

They aren’t playing point guard. Hardest position as a rookie. He’s 19 years old. And he has shown some flashes.

It sucks how hard Piston fans are being on this kid after 6 games. Especially considering 95% of the fan base wanted him.

I like watching him play. Still believe in him. And I’m willing to give him time. Don’t want to hate on the kid out the gate. And he is tough. He plays hard nosed defense. He’s just rawer than some thought he’d be. Oh well.

Quality loss. I watched every minute and had it not been for a lot of missed easy shots the Pistons took vs the same type of shots the Bucks made, this was pretty much an even game.

Perfect loss, so to speak.

I don't disagree that he has some real hard struggles, that's undeniable.

This is my problem and it's coming from the same posters every GDT (not including you until this GDT)... "Hayes is garbage", "Weaver might have whiffed on this pick", "doesn't have NBA skills".

Seriously, come on guys, gain some perspective. Criticism is fine and is warranted considering how much he has struggled but calling the kid a bust 6 games in is ridiculous and if this is the way GDT's are going to be every time he makes a mistake which, newsflash, will happen a lot then this place is going to be unbearable really fast.

Since we drafted him, we might as well develop him, so yeah, I agree he should be playing, but it's painful, and his attitude is not helping. He deserves every criticism he is getting, he is for sure, the worst starter in the league.

I never wanted him. I actually thought we would take the kid from FSU. I believe his name is Pat??? Again, I'm not expecting him to be great but just make the simple plays and he can't even do that. Not sure if he scared or what. The kid has a long way to go, at least another 2 years

Another quality L. I hope Killian is hurt just enough to miss three games, watch some film, and calm down. He could use it.

This young team is a big step up in competitive fire and resilience over our recent past. Good L.

Definitely. There has been a lot of talk about "changing the culture" here over the last decade, but this is the first team that actually has taken steps to do that. Hopefully they can keep it up as the losses mount.

We need Killian to continue the tank and he needs to play to get better. He was key in two losses, giving away points when the Pistons had a chance.

But I dont think he is gaining anything by bringing the ball up the court, passing the half court line, passing the ball to Plumlee/Grant/Blake and watching the rest of the team play 4 on 5 ball.

Hayes is getting assists because the ball eventually makes its way back to him and he passes to Grant/Bey/Svi who make a 3. That is not playmaking or basketball iq. He is actually making everyone on the court worse. No good options, lets hope he gets back on the court after a week or two.

Return to Detroit Pistons
