Yeah, both of them. Plus, Jaden McDaniels has become an indispensable part of the rotation. I think he might be better than Spencer Hawes.

I don't have a problem with McDaniels getting minutes. He's 22, shows some upside, and is a 4 who can occasionally play 3, so he's not eating into backcourt minutes.

I'm sorry this happened to Monk, but he sure as heck isn't alone. Covid-19 can have a lot of lingering symptoms and issues (including headaches, migraines, heart damage, etc.).

My neighbor across the street just got out of the ICU. He's an awesome guy in good shape and in his early 60's.

Yeah, I think I mentioned it in a game thread, but I have a friend (early 30s) who had covid and didn't get any respiratory symptoms until after his fever went away and he tested negative and then he started having lingering breathing issues and was getting out of breath just from walking around the house.

players association would have a field day with some sort of hidden punishment like that... players hiding injuries or injury complications are more likely than a situation of that kind

I think in this case the most obvious conclusion is the correct conclusion. I think covid hit him harder than most realize. Not all young healthy athletes get a free pass from severe virus symptoms.

Chelsea had a young player, Kai havertz, who got coronavirus in the fall. It knocked him on his ass for a month. He has been a shell of his former player since.

Speaking of the virus, just curious if anyone on here has had the virus themselves or anyone close to them?

I had it and bounced back quick enough. Was maybe out of it for 2-3 days. No coughing or shortness of breath - just sweats and diarrhea :lol:

This was back around March-ish iirc. My job didn't even shut down until April either.

Its wild though. I'm in the DC area now and one of the things that was most alarming yet under the radar was the amount of younger professionals just dying in their apartments. So many people were just trying to tough it out when symptoms accelerated far faster than they realized.... it was bad. Plus its such a public trans/commute heavy city too - even though offices were generally on point about precautions, people still gotta get to work.

I can't speak to everyone's situation of course but the complications afterwards are still being understood for a lot of people. So any type of precaution or concern.... I get it.

I had it the first week of November, really was feeling bad for maybe a day and half and then was able to work from home a few days after. My girlfriend lives with me as well and she of course got the virus a few days after I got it. Overall we both quarantined for about 2 weeks just to make sure our families were safe. I had some respiratory issues for about a month where I would get extremely out of breath just from 15 seconds of physical activity or even talking on the phone could make me feel like I wasn't getting enough oxygen. I have since started exercising with no issues breathing again, so thankful for that.

I hope Monk is healthy, but it wouldn't be unprecedented for an NBA player to deal with the effects of Covid for quite awhile. Mo Bamba got it back in June and he was only cleared for full contact practice a couple of weeks ago.

The uncertainty of symptoms and how long they might persist is one of my biggest concerns about the virus. I know I'm technically at a low-risk age and don't have asthma, obesity, etc. but it's still scary stuff when you see reports of marathon runners dying in the ICU and world-class athletes suffering after-effects for months.

Apparently Monks grandmother had it the same time as him and actually passed away from it. That’s really sad to hear. Eric Collins brought Monk up towards the end of the Mavs game and reiterated that he’s a big part of the Hornets plans this year.

Monk is about to get a massive amount of PT because I'm pretty sure Johnson is going to find both the Twins and murder them outside the stadium in the carpark after the game.

I had a HS classmate in relatively good health (mid 30's) who is still suffering deep fatigue issues months later. I have another friend in mostly good health who is having the brain fog issues and she's early 30's. It seems random in terms of young people, who get long-term issues and who doesn't.

I'm sorry, but I'm not going to feel sorry that the guy who got busted with cocaine and then was apparently the only one on the team that got COVID hasn't been getting consistent PT.

20 million Americans have been confirmed with Covid-19. That is 6% of all the people in this country. A lot of college teams, including the Duke women's basketball team, are not playing at all.

Monk finally got off the bench. A bit of the rust stuck to him, as expected. His defense looked improved, but on offense he was basically standing around the three-point line waiting for someone to pass it to him. Let's see some movement without the ball. On the other hand, three assists were a promising start.
