Peachtree HoopsHawks host Hornets to begin two-game set
For the second consecutive game, the Atlanta Hawks held a 15-point second half lead on Monday evening, only to see the advantage evaporate and morph into a home defeat. On Wednesday, Trae Young and company will take the floor against the Charlotte Hornets at State Farm Arena with an eye toward ending that brief losing skid.
Wednesday’s match-up against the Hornets is the first of a scheduled two-game set, as the two teams will have a rematch on Saturday in Charlotte. Like the Hawks, the Hornets enter on a losing streak, though the visitors have lost three consecutive games.
Charlotte rates as a bottom-five offensive team that is below-average statistically across the board. The Hornets do have strong perimeter creation with Gordon Hayward, LaMelo Ball, Terry Rozier and Devonte Graham, though Graham is off to a shaky start in 2020-21 after leading the way a season ago.
Defensively, the Hornets are approximately league-average to this point, but they do have a noted strength in forcing turnovers. That moves ball security to the top of Atlanta’s priority list offensively, and turnovers are an area in which the Hawks have struggled at times in the past.
Though the Hawks are the more talented team playing at home in this matchup, nothing can be taken for granted...Stay tuned throughout the day for all the latest.

Pg play is still an ish show when Trae is not in there. Starting to doubt signing Rondo, could have gone with a young, safer bet. Interior defense also suffers when Capela is not on the floor.

Hawks take this in a laugher. Everything goes right tonight. Hawks by double digits and an easy win.
Gonna leave us wondering why they don’t play like this every night.
GO HAWKS!

That’s not Trae out there. I don’t know who that is.

Re: Game Thread: Hornets @ Hawks -- 1/6
to be fair, one of those turnovers was him basically placing the ball between Capela's two meat hook hands and Capela treated it like a greased pig.
That's all I got.
This team is a f-ing disgrace right now.

Re: Game Thread: Hornets @ Hawks -- 1/6
I’m sorry that’s poor effort. How many wide open 3’s did we miss? Trae couldn’t hold onto the ball and he wasn’t even mentally there. Cam needs to get better. This was bad. 3 in a row at home to the Cavs, Knicks and Hornets and I had these all down as W’s.
This isn’t rocket science guys damn. Our play sets are inconsistent too. At times we aren’t taking advantage of the parameters of the court and taking would be 4 pointers. Ugh, we didn’t do anything right.
I don’t know if you should watch tape on this or burn it. This might be one of the lousiest Hawks games I’ve ever seen. We looked like $hit tonight.

I see Trae pulled a 'Kobe' and decided not to shoot tonight - 7 shots?

I’m waiting for confirmation that Trae is playing through injury. He hasn’t looked like himself since we left Brooklyn. This game he was deliberately passive. Something is up.
