Ive yet to see a happy liberal today. The Dems have all the power, you think a little protest will do anything to stop it? I’m not even sure these are Trump supporters, there have been people saying some of these people are paid protestors. The politicians love it when this country is divided. Think about it.....

Why are you sorry? I am hoping it was Trump supporters but I’m having doubts because who does this benefit? That would be a huge stand by the conservatives but it’s not really something they normally do. It benefits the democrats and keeps the division going.

This is an idiotic statement. Lacking insight or thought. The 'people are saying' formulation is the same level of stupidity that incited this sort of action in the first place. There is no evidence that it is true. In short, you're trolling.

By contrast there is plenty of evidence of a coordinated effort by anti-democratic forces and white nationalists to invade the nations capitol to cause mischief. This has been further incited by the 'stand back and stand by' president to incite riot and suborn treason and insurrection. And has been aided and abetted by Fox and other supposed media organizations.

Trump needs to be immediately impeached and removed from office before he can magnify the damage he is causing. Then the DOJ needs to be armed and unleashed to track these cockroaches back to the cracks they crawled out from, round them up and lock them way until they die of irrelevance.

The key part in the OP was (paraphrasing), liberals have all the power but they aren't happy.

Kind of the difference between the two groups, no? One is ONLY happy when they have power and the other when we have a working democracy.

For those familiar with the process that was to happen today - if anything happened to the Electoral College Certificates could some unscrupulous official try to discredit the results? Or is this entire process simply ceremonial?

I’d assume that the states would have a copy of who the electors are voting for so even if someone destroyed the certificates more could be produced. I mean the whole act by these idiot domestic terrorists was idiotic. Even if the certification was delayed, as of Jan 20th Nancy Pelosi becomes President. a failed coup is still a coup but there is literally nothing these idiot Magats could do to change the results

Thank God - Trump has given up. I'm guessing the threat of impeachment proceedings starting today and the possibility that his cabinet would invoke the 25th Amendment had a lot to to with Trump's decision.
