Just a hunch, but I'm wondering if we wake up tomorrow and learn the 25th was already invoked and Pence has taken command. He did bring in the National Guard over Trump's objections and clearly defied Trump's wishes by denouncing the plot to decertify Biden's win. Lots of people are resigning already. It is possible Trump is already being escorted out and a lot of them are packing their bags to get out of the madhouse.

Between the attempted coup d’etat and Austin Rivers, I prolly won’t sleep. I’ll bump the thread if the 25th Goes down. Already told my boss I, taking the rest of the week off. Between the Knicks and the country, too much going on other than for me to try and calm the F down and read a murder mystery or something. Normally I’d be like “F it. Off to Cayman to scuba and snorkel” when I’m this stressed but, oh yeah, deadly pandemic.

So ready for a vacation. Imma walk around the Brooklyn Botanic tomorrow. Try and calm down, lol.

Good plan. I miss the Grand Army Plaza area. I was in love with the library, the park and the museum. When I was really young a buddy and I snuck into those gardens one night and got chased by the cops and had to fly over the fences to escape.

“The November 3rd election was corrupt in contested states, and in particular it was not in accordance with the Constitution in that they made large scale changes to election rules and regulations as dictated by local judges and politicians, not by state legislators. This means that it was illegal.

“Our Vice President has several options under the U.S. Constitution. He can decertify the results or send them back to the states for change and certification. He can also decertify the illegal and corrupt results and send them to the House of Representatives for the one vote for one state tabulation.“

Let's get this party started. Some wild days ahead. Like I said before it's 73 million plus Trump supporters vs. a stack of fraudulent ballots and a platoon of Biden cardboard cutouts. It's why the prez asked supporters to come to D.C. The people will not be denied...or it may be the beginning of the end of the republic as we know it. Let's see what they choose.

From a political strategy perspective, what the GOP needs right now is an issue that help re-unify the party after showing this sort of clear division. An opportunity to argue against impeachment would do that, but invoking the 25th would not.

On the Dem side, the opposite is true - attempting to impeach would help unify the GOP and reestablish partisan lines while the 25th would further fracture the GOP alliances.

That is why I don't see either being a likely outcome. Ultimately self-preservation and political aspiration will supersede protecting the country for the next 2 weeks.

That’s good evasive action! I knew they (like everything) was struggling so I did my part and bought a membership over the summer. I’m a Manhattan guy, but most of my friends live in Brooklyn. Turned into a great way to reconnect with friends in summer and fall. They had a couple of slots for members only walking and it was peaceful. Kept me sane over the summer.

I’m a huge extrovert and broke up with my lady like 3 weeks before lockdown. I’m the kinda dude who actually prefers working onsite, talking with my coffee stand guy, all that jazz. My office is on the LES, so when I’m single I’m out at concerts or games (Knicks or Mets) 2 or 3 times a week. So I needed some non+Zoom time with my friends badly.

Sorry, I found your reasoning hard to follow. If you're saying fighting impeachment is a good opportunity for the GOP to unify its party then I have no idea where you get that belief from when it would just be doubling down on defending a traitor. Maybe I don't understand what you're trying to say.

Imagine the millions of kids who where getting ready to go away for their first year of college stuck at home all this time. I was just talking to a close person today that I need to get back to city life because I need interaction with people who can keep up. FL is not home

It was confusing logic, sorry.

My point was that I don't see the GOP initiating impeachment nor the 25th amendment proceedings given neither action would help the party unify if the GOP side is the one initiating.

If the Dems initiate a second round of impeachment proceedings, it would help the GOP solidify in defense along partisan lines, so the Dems would be unlikely to initiate.

Obviously Dems can't initiate the 25th amendment proceedings.

Therefore, I don't see a path to either proceeding happening over the next 2 weeks.
