Stagnating offense in the postseason has been the problem each of the last two years, so it's certainly a good sign that the new additions look to be meshing well and making the offense look even more elite. As has been pointed out numerous times, the defense has never been the issue, so we'll see if the defensive depth trade-off (Augustin/Forbes/Portis over Hill/Wes/Ersan/RoLo) is ultimately worth it.

Only way we can overcome Bud is if Giannis takes the next step against better teams.

Loved the Portis signing and love him even more now. Dude actually has fire and plays with emotion. Just a great situation and fit for him and the Bucks right now.

Nwora has some Middleton in him, but a little more athletic IMO. Hold and develop him.

Forbes is coming along very nicely, he'll go through some slumps, but you just have to let variance play out.

Past 2 games have been good for Giannis, just need to see it against better teams and coaches.

This year, yeah, we’ve absolutely been the number 1 offense to start the season. I was alluding to the previous two seasons, we scored the most ppg, but I wouldn’t consider us the top offense those two years (we didn’t have the top off rating). This year is different, but we are shooting otherworldly at the moment.

I used the wrong tense in my previous post. “Have” should have been “had”.

Offensive ratings recently for MIL:

2018-19: 113.8 (4th)
2019-20: 112.4 (8th)
2020-21: 120.8 (1st)

I don't think we keep that pace up, although I think O Ratings will be higher this year with no fans (fans seem to impact defense more positively, and no fans helps shooting numbers). I do think we will be the top offense in the league though, given the talent and the number of top level 3 point shooters we have.

Seems like there are four or five guys on this team that could get a triple-double on any given night.

Our shooting is unsustainable. We're shooting an NBA record 44% from three. If we were shooting a respectable 37% from three, we would have 66 fewer points on the season and our offensive rating would rank 10th in the league which is right in line with where we were last year.

Merrill is still out with a left ankle sprain.

Sorry, I didn't read the health status.
Nevertheless Fire Bud for all the other reasons mentioned above.
And to highlight one more thing, tall guards with middle game will kill us again at the playoffs cause our D scheme is fundamentaly flawed leaving way too much free space at the FT area cause of our deep deep deep stupidly deep drop down D from our Centers, teached by Bud.
Draft picks: '15 Jerian Grant, '16 Thon Maker, '17 Isaiah Hartenstein/*John Collins, '18 TD Devonte Graham, Hamidou Diallo, '20 Sam Merrill, Killian Tillie, '21 Joe Wieskamp, '22 TU C.Braun/G.Procida '23 Tristan Vukcevic/Maxwell Lewis

That's a pretty odd way to look at it, dropping ours to 37% while everyone else's percentage stays the same.

I do agree we won't sustain .437 from 3, but we have good shooters and they should get a lot of open looks in this offense.

It's been interesting for sure. Doesn't really matter now but it absolutely will matter when he's jacking up some of those shots in the playoffs against good teams rather than Jrue or Khris.

Really glad Pat's injury has forced Bud to give Nwora some playing time with the regular rotation. I think he needs it to get a bit more comfortable in our schemes but he has extreme confidence in his shooting and he makes a lot more than he misses so far. Should be very valuable experience. Still have no idea how he lasted to pick #45 given his specific skillset.

I'll also echo sentiments that Holiday has been underutilized. I'm wondering if they're trying to ease him into his role and the offense as a whole.

I'm hoping by the end of the season that Gianni begins evolving into the same dominant force he is without the huge usage rate, and Holiday's role as primary initiator increases a good amount.

He’s too talented and we paid too high a price for him to be ball watching from the weak side. I can’t imagine this is what he had in mind for his role either. Bud has to give him some shine

Holiday will be utilized more as the season progresses and we need him against tougher competition. That Pistons team is literally one of the worst teams I ever remember watching, and I'm a Bucks fan.

Giannis is a great player and all but he is flawed. You can only expect so much out of him. I have no faith in Bud. We keep changing players thinking thats the problem. We will find out after this year for sure. All I know is what I see now. The same prbmlems keep popping up that prevent us from being elite

This is Jrue Holiday. Despite his talent, he has a tendency to become a ghost.

I'd like to see his minutes double - currently 10.2 per game.

Turns out it takes a new addition a while to wrangle the ball handling reigns away from 2 guys who have been on the team for 8 years.

2019-2020 ORTG 2021 Through 6 games
117.50 - Mavs 121.4 - Buckaroos
114.66 - LAC 117.5 - DEN
114.26 - POR
.
.
.
112.98 - Buckaroos (9th)

The Mavs were by and far the BEST offensive team last year by statistical measures. Not just for the year but historically. We were closer to the middle of the pack than the top last year. We were a great regular season team, but anyone trying to say we were an elite offense is delusional. I would wager our league leading 103.3 Defensive rating is what buoyed a lot of those games, considering it helped us have the league leading net rating of 9.6, which is pretty damn impressive.

He's the 3rd leading scorer on the team so I'm not sure what people were expecting. Maybe his usage gets bumped up a bit the more he gets acclimated to the offense, but Holiday is a guy who's much better off as a secondary play-maker and a 15-18 PPG dude who can exert maximum effort on defense. Part of the reason those Pelicans teams never went anywhere was because they asked him to be a higher usage volume scorer the past several years, and that's just not his best role.
