True cancer. I really hope he is banned from ever holding office again. It won't stop him from rabble rousing, but the words will be less effective when we know he can't become President again, and the MAGAs know he can't become President again. The world will thank us for that. The only way out for the country is to reduce this guy to just another guy saying stupid **** on the internet and TV.

Before yesterday he was going to be tried, convicted and sent to jail.

After yesterday any possible apprehensions of any state or federal officials to prosecute Trump for his crimes vanished

That was an organized insurrection. Trump will never sniff political office again

As much as we all hope that Trump never takes office again, unless he is legally barred from doing so I expect him to try again since his hubris and delusion control him. Ronna "The Rona" McDaniel is going to be RNC chair again, and there are still millions of ardent trump supporters out there.

They have $300 Mill in their slush PAC. If it isn't him, one of his evil spawn will run to pick up the base - they are not going to let this opportunity pass

No offense, I'm going to stop replying to these kinds of posts soon since I don't like repeating myself. NO, he is going to prison. If he lives through that he will be too old and senile to do anything. His life is OVER. That's why he is completely deranged right now, because he knows it.

You do realize Trump and Don Jr. are about to be prosecuted for campaign fraud, don't you?

That source of income is about to end and Deustche Bank has already publicly announced they intend to call in Trump's debts. The current slush funds won't save him and he will not have the cash flow in the future to overcome his negative net worth. He likely has a negative net worth of a billion dollars. He's going to prison and will be broke.

Banned from office?

He can't run for office if we, as we should, use the death penalty for his treason against this country.

**** banning him from office. The minimum I want is banishment from this planet.

His ego & his lemmings will spin it as proof of alien life and that he lost this election on purpose so he can negotiate a peace deal with Blorgian people from Claxon 7.

Win win.

Yesterday, like almost everyone else, I was angry and disgusted.

Today, I feel a bit heartbroken to see what this country has currently morphed into. There is no cure for what the GOP has become. These people will not go away either. And it scares me that guys like Hawley and Cruz will suffer not consequences for what happened yesterday. This will just further embolden them. They're just complete and pure scum without a shred of dignity or moral compass, putting their political ambitions over the good of the country. Biden needs to realize that his whole unity thing is not going to fly in DC. He needs to govern with a mindset that the ghosts of bipartisans past, will not be playing ball. The GOP does not deserve one ounce of respect.

didn't he break (I believe it's the 4th amendment). By inciting or helping to incite this, they should be banned from ever taking public office again.

F*ck his heavy heart. The GOP had a chance to impeach him a long time ago but decided not to because Trump got them their judges and pushed their agenda.

They don't get to grandstand today, because most were enablers all the way up until this point.

Kinzinger is a legit Trump critic imo. That goes for Ben Sasse too. As much as you are going to find from the GOP that are still in office

It should actually play to Biden's advantage as there will be a handful of GOP Senators who are going to want to be on record for the kinds of bi-partisan legislation they can point to as helping regular folks for once. The GOP is going to have its own ongoing civil war for a while and Biden doesn't have to cater to any of them. They'll be coming to Schumer to offer their support on those packages they want to hitch a ride on to show they are the true remaining reasonable factions in the GOP. Biden no longer has to curry any favor with the GOP after the GA seats were captured anyway, but after yesterday's meltdown the GOP crapped the bed so hard Biden won't have to show them any consideration at all, nor should he.

When you feed a movement such as Trumpism for your own political gains like the Republicans have done for the past 5 years it’s very very difficult to control this monster once it’s out of the bottle. You will in all likelihood see some resurrection activities going forward, it could get very ugly. There’s been an unbelievable amount of naivety from many Americans in the media, in the general public, about what could happen once this monster is unleashed. I worry for the future of your democracy.

Trump needs to be removed from office, now. This argument that he only has 12-13 days doesn’t cut it. Think about this, he’s been banned by Twitter, he’s been banned by Facebook, but he still has control of the nuclear codes.

The militias will keep meeting in their sheds. The FBI will have their hands full if they are doing their jobs. Trump will remain their icon, but they will likely need a third party to represent them. They are a vocal and sometimes violent 15% of the population. That another 15% of the population voted alongside them won't be enough to sustain the GOP's viability after yesterday.

We're talking about basically 15% of Americans are completely down with fascist rule. About the same amount enabled them.

They are not the majority of the population, but they are dangerous. The Democrats need to abolish the electoral college and go to the popular vote ASAP to weaken their future opportunities to fck chit up politically
