Fultz and Isaac can't stay healthy and now it might be the case with Okeke. Time for Cole Anthony to play starter minutes.

Horrible news, I am really sad for him.

Now it's time to tank.

To try and turn it into a positive... maybe he'll spend so much time rehabbing his knee that he'll forget all about his shoulder and start shooting normal again. Look, I'm desperate here.

Well... can't see myself paying much attention to too many games this season. Blow it up. Tank.

Rest is for +28 years old players. Not for teens.
Injuries happen, acl is non contact injury as result of hyperexstension of knee. It's impossible to prevent it, happends in seconds.
It was apparent that Fultz had no legs for this past week. Age has nothing to do with it.

Same with MCW. He's a bad shooter, but not that bad. He's was ran more than his body could handle.

Yeah, giving his his shoulder extra time was what I thought of as well. If his shot is still broken when he comes back, he’ll be destined for a backup role like Livingston.

Miserable news. Both feel terrible for Fultz and glad for him that he signed his extension before this happened.

As far as the team goes, though, this season is beyond pointless now, apart from seeing what Cole can do (and Chuma when he gets back). Other than that, bring on the tank.

This is brutal news. I'm so sorry to hear this, not only for Fultz, but for the fan base. You had started so well, even with Isaac out as well.

I hope you guys are able to whether the storm. I haven't been paying real close attention, but it appears Gordon is really balling. I've noticed Terrence Ross has been stepping up too, as I have him and Fournier in a fantasy league (deep one). Just picked up Khem Birch as well.

I think you drafted Cole Anthony, and am not sure about the rest of your depth at PG, but hopefully he can step up.

Hopefully the recovery for Fultz (and Isaac) goes well. Fultz has had a tough career.

Basketball Gods really hates us.
Really no reason to watch any more games.
Im not so fond to watch us develop Bacon,Ennis,Birch,Clark and MCW etc
Cole doesnt do it for me either.
Tankers shoudnt keep their hopes up either I think this FO wont ever commit to obvious roster sale and just tank.

btw how it looks now...
2 players they commint large money to...both gone with ACL

It is weird that Fultz and I now share something in common (we lack a left-leg ACL).

Tore mine about 18 months ago, and my left knee still aches 100% of the time.

..

I’ve also torn my left ACL

Don’t listen to the supposed doctors or experts. It WILL ache even after 2 years but it gets better slowly but surely. There is a difference in year 5 to year 3

It used to hurt in cold weather but that eventually dissipated

There was no intrinsic reasoning to the ACL tearing. It was a Eurostep cut Fultz makes 5-10 times a game. Why did it pop this time?

I blew my ACL stepping to the left.

I guess they just go sometimes.

It is weird that I am fully fit and can do all the strength stuff. But I cannot step backwards. I have to rotate my body 90ËšC, and then walk to the side.

With an 8-year old son, I am actually glad that I can climb trees, run and play sports. When it popped, my fear was a minuscule tear, because that means surgery. An ACL, for those who do not know, need not be a surgical fix. (rugby players lose their ACL like ice-hockey goalies lose teeth).

can you two talk a little about injury, how it happend, what was worst part of recovery, any issues during recovery, where both of you at now? I remeber that drsd said he still has lasting issues after whole calendar year.

I was on a football pitch (Association football, not American football) with 6-8 year olds. I was in goal an took a gentle step to the left. There was no twisting, no impact, no contact - nothing. But it popped to the point I could hear it.

I sat there for a bit trying to see if it was an injury. I was not in any real pain per se. I was able to stand up and I tried to play a bit more. But I realised I couldn't. I walked home some 500 metres. I did not go to the the A&E (US-emergency room) and I just booked a visit to my GP doctor. For the weeks I waited, I could barely walk. But that was becasue I could not bend my knee without falling down; I was not in pain, it is just a constant ache (that has never gone away)

When I final got to see my GP, he played with my knee and realised immediately there was damage. So off to the MRI. Waited about 4 weeks for that scan (so now about 6 weeks from injury), and then I had to wait another 4 weeks to see a specialist about the scan. That whole time I was reading up on meniscal tears, as because I was never in agonising pain and as I could kind-of walk, I assumed it could not be a ligament tear. (We all saw Fultz' screams; it was never like that for me; also there was never any post-injury swelling).

Anyhow, got to the knee specialist and he showed me that it was a complete tear off of the bone (it did not break in the middle). I was told these are not correctable and that surgery is about making a fake ligament, not sewing the broken one back together.

Had some physio appointments which were all about getting muscle strength to replace the stability lost. That helped a lot.
Basically it is a lot of leg squats. And standing on one-leg type exercises.

Then lockdown happened. So I waited another 4 months. When I finally got to the doctor for a final visit, say July 2021. At this point I could actually walk. The physio exercise (at home on Youtube) helped me regain stability. My muscles now are my "ligament". So I decided "no surgery". I can chase after my son, walk the dogs and live my life. I would not threaten those facts with a 18-month rehabilitation after surgery that might not even fix my knee (apparently the ACL surgery for normal-folk frequently do not take and have to be re-done).

So: my knee aches but I would not say this is even as bad as breaking a bone in the context of pain or effect on outcomes.
I would say from rupture to back-to-so-kind-of-normality was 12 months in total.

You intuitively just move differently. (for example when I am at a doorway and have to walk backwards through it, it is always right leg first in a back-step, pivot 180ËšC and then left leg forward). I don't think about it, it just works out like that.

My advise from someone that probably could be all of your's father, do not age anymore. It just isn't worth it!
(My father blew his ACL and MCL in a slip on a Pub last summer).

tnx man, i know it's a hell, i have one guy at my gym that tore ACL in middle of sparring at MMA and he said he was KOed too many times to remember that post surgery rehab was biggest pain he ever endured.

i hope your knee gets better over time, i saw somwhere that adding muscles to quad, calf and overall glutes helps a lot, especially with stability.

Once again, thanks a lot and keep grinding!

Sorry to hear about this fellas. I gave a lot of praise for the 2nd draft attempt when it happened and was glad to see he was doing pretty well this year for you guys.

It's another tough break for the kid, but he'll be back stronger. You don't go through everything he went through, only to let a fairly common NBA injury stop you.

drsd, why did it take so long to get doctor & specialists appointments, MRI (and such a long wait for scan results)? You are in UK, I assume?

But ho hum, bread and circus...bread and circus.

Yes, especially forcing the players to play 72 games in a condensed schedule without proper summer and training camps. I predict NBA will have a lot of injuries this year, that's just the beginning.

Why not 56 games like NHL did? Why force 72 games? Best NHL players usually plays around 20-25mpg and in the NBA more than 30, makes no sense to risk the final "product". What's the whole point of having 2 back-2-back games against Wizards without any attendance at all?

As I understood it, 72 was a magic number for the TV deals. If they play fewer, they lose a lot of money on that end.
