That trade is impossible, Wendell's mom would start a public beef with AK

Re: Lauri trade for Bagley
This is trade which GarPax would do. Then again this board has many followers of such religion.

Re: Lauri trade for Bagley
Bagley and Carter are way too similar, on their pros and cons to play together much less be your starters next to each other. It's not like having twin towers, neither is so big or dominating that they change the game to make other teams adjust.

Re: Lauri trade for Bagley
Bagley has more athleticism than WCJ so long term I think he'll end up better, but right now functionally they're really similar. Underdeveloped offensive skills, positionally not really versatile, physically weak so likely to get bullied by stronger centers, don't make huge impacts defensively, and both have had injury bugs. I think Bagley might be a lil better offensively, and Wendell a bit better on the boards. I'd do a WCJ swap for Bagley, but them together would be unwatchable.
As far as Bagley, Lauri, Lauri's better, but I guess you'll have the question of "Is he so much better for the x amount he's gonna get paid shortly"? I'd probably say yes. His offensive package right now probably makes him more valuable to the Bulls' future, over trying to save some money.

Re: Lauri trade for Bagley
I'd consider it - but mainly because you have one extra year to evaluate Bagley as compared to Lauri.
Right now Lauri is the better player based on more natural outside shooting. Bagley is more athletic, but smaller, and so at this point neither are notable better than the other defensively. Bagley might be a touch better in transition, but Lauri when freed from the Boylen "3 or layup" constraints is a more versatile, and therefor ultimately dangerous, scorer.
Still, a Lauri for Bagley swap is an "even-money" swap IMO, with the Bulls giving up the currently slightly better player for a guy with an extra year on a cheap deal and more athletic upside. That's not the way to build assets, really - it's to "buy low."

I'd do carter for Bagley. We'll give him the burn to see if he's good.

If the Bulls do, you would be complaining to much to ever hear it.
NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Re: Lauri trade for Bagley
The trade I wish we had done with Lauri would have been for the #10 pick in the draft, to then draft Haliburton. I wonder if Phoenix would have preferred Markannen over Jalen Smith, even though he'd be due a raise next year.

I’d do WCJ for Bagley.
Lauri is light years ahead of Bagley, who still has a long way to go development wise. The size and athleticism are all there, but his BBIQ is below average.

I still have no idea how good GMs value Zach so this could be too much or too little. Just focusing on getting good picks here.
Warriors get:
Lavine
Otto
Thad
Sato
Gafford
Bulls get:
Wiggins
Oubre
Biyombo
Looney
'21 MN 1st
'21 CHA 1st
Hornets get:
Wiseman
Maybe not enough from the Bulls or maybe too much. Really depends on how much Ws believe in Zach being able to move the ball and contribute defensively

I'd just cut CHA on that deal and keep Wiseman. Min 1st and Wiseman is great haul for what we're sending out.

Re: Lauri trade for Bagley
This seems like an odd time to want Bagley, Bagley is a big man that shoots 38% overall, 40% on 2s, doesn't defend well, and averages about as blocks as Buddy Hield.
Granted this is a rough start and he'll get better, but even at his best he wasn't looking like a star player. If we're just swapping roleplayers, I'll take the shooter and one that's looking good this year. Lauri is shooting 70% at the rim and 48% from 3 to start the season.
If we're thinking Bagley is looking so bad we can get him on the cheap and take a random shot in the dark at lottery player development, sure but then we should be getting him for cheap not at the cost of one of our best offensive starters.

I'm not convinced Wiseman is an elite prospect but CHA apparently loved him.Southpaw wrote:dpucane wrote:Hypothetical Warriors-go-all-in framework.

No it’s not the right move. WCJ and Bagley games are too similar. Would need some one who shoots from the perimeter at a much higher percentage to compliment WCJ game.
And I’m no Laurie fan believe me...
