I don't know who we would jettison to create another roster spot, but with Smiley going down I would look at Skal Labissiere. O'Quinn is a nice player if you need bruiser, but would rather look at someone younger and longer.

Seems like Chriss is the obvious spot if they're going to waive someone. Out for the year then he's a FA. He'll get paid anyway.

Yeah that is totally the play. I just feel so bad for Chriss getting booted on paper again. He's a potential keeper and hope he gives it another go with the Dubs next year.

Chris seems more realistically a 4, not a 5.

HE was overmatched the few times he had to deal with true centers.

He wasn't hitting the 3 enough that Warriors had to have him on the team, unless he was hitting better than 35% for a 4.

I think the team could use more of a bruiser.

Everyone except Kerr used Chriss as a 4. He’s just not that good at 4. He made his Mark finally at the center spot and was trending in the right direction.

I’m kind of bummed the Warriors didn’t try to bring in Taj. He fits in a lot of ways. Especially as a pro...a veteran who knows what to do in games like last night where you need pros to finish games

He was the #7 pick in 2013 and his stock seems to be down. Not a great shooter by any means, 41.7/35.2/78.0 for his career. 9.4 PPG for his career, and his best year was 2014/15 when he averaged 12.1.

The Kings have Hield, who shot better (48.0/42.8/81.4). Clearly he's their future at SG, while McElmore just averaged the lowest MPG of his career at 19.1.

Besides that, the Kings have 2 lottery picks (their own and the Pelicans' pick from the Cousins trade) as well as #34, also from the Pelicans. So at least two roster spots for rookies next year, which makes it even more likely that the Kings won't match an offer for McElmore.

Now what if his stock was so down that the Warriors could get him to replace Clark for the minimum? He earned over $4 million on the last year of his rookie deal so of course he's going to look to get paid. Some team may decide to give him more than a minimum contract, since he was a mid lottery pick and he still very young.

But if he's overlooked ...

We have no chance at BMac unless he doesn't get a QO, even the Miles Plumlee's of the world are getting 10 a year these days so I'm guessing BMac gets a contract that makes people think "WTF".

Well McElmore had a meh season in 2017-18 with the Grizzlies when I suggested him as a possibility.

Then in 2018-19 played just 19 games with the Kings, only 8 MPG. Injuries? He shot over 41% from 3, low attempts.

In 2019-20, he had his best efficiency season, 71 games, 23 starts, 22 MPG but shot 44.4/40/74.6 on 6.4 3PAs per game.

This year, he's only played 4 games but he seems to be a 3-point specialist now, already averaging 5.5 3PAs shooting 50%.

As #7 pick of 2013, his career didn't pan out the way expected. He's making only $2.3 million this year and is a UFA. Presumably he has some athletic ability to be picked so high, though only 6-3 or 6-4, 6-8 WS. So maybe he's a decent defender.

Sterling Brown shooting well his first year with the Rockets but only 10 games, shooting 51.6/45.9 on 3.7 3PA in 20 MPG. He's got a little more length at 6-5. He's earning a minimum salary this year, UFA after this season.

Still think this team benefits from adding Dedmon. Maybe he just would rather wait to see if a contender comes sniffing.

Melo and amare should thrive in this offense. If Jeremy Tyler and cole Aldridge looked that good in summer league then us knick fans have a lot to be excited about. Make room for all the bandwagoners when we take off

Alex Len just got waved by Toronto...he is tall. Not sure with Paschall looking good as a stretch 5 that the center spot is a need but we still feel thin at the 5 to me. Kind of surprised that no team has signed Dedmon this far into the season.

Wiseman, Looney, Paschall, Green is the center rotation that we have. That's good enough. So if we sign another center, that guy would have to be okay sitting on the bench as insurance. Who could fill that role? Maybe look for somebody we can put on a two way. Other than that, we should just wait for the buyout market. Guys like RoLo are going to be available.

So is Chriss really out for the year? If that's the case, why is he still on the team?

They could cut him when they need the roster spot. He gets paid either way.

They're probably trying to avoid taking on salary to save on luxury taxes.

Waiting to see if the team is still competitive say around the half way point.

Or if fans are allowed back in the stadium.

I wanted Len for the minimum at the beginning of the year after we missed out on Ibaka and Gasol. He is pretty athletic big, who can shoot the three a little and at this point is probably better defensively than Wiseman.

Len has failed at nearly every team in the league.....why would you bring him in to take minutes from Wiseman or Paschall when this dude hasn’t ever done anything.

Because WE HAVE TO WIN NOW! And if that means giving minutes to a failed big man ahead of our talented but extremely young rookie who needs lots of minutes before Klay comes back, so be it. Better an 8th spot in the playoffs this year and a first-round exit than planning for the future.

I guess.
