I think you'd all be hyped about Ja as you are about RJ, let's be real here.

In the long run I do think they'll be equal and both will be better than Zion.

Is this a vote for Ja or RJ? I'll take 5 years of a top 3 point guard vs. any period of Melo. Ja projects at every level including the intangibles to be one of the top 3 PGs in the league over the next 5 years.

I dont see that in the next 5 yrs but then again I don't see that in RJ either. But after yr 5 possibly. Don't forget, Deaaron Fox looked pretty good early on too. Maybe not his 1st yr as he was younger than Ja starting out but 2nd yr Fox was nasty. Then I think last yr was yr 3 and he went slightly backwards dt a lack of a 3pt game. I still think he'll be a good player. I'm just saying it takes alot to be a top 3 PG and the competition is fierce and alot start out hot when expectations are low.

In any case I'm not denying that he will be a top 3 PG so much as I'm denying you the speed at which he'll do it. Im thinking more like when he's 27.

I honestly don't think point guards in this mold are ideal. And I have a track record of saying so before Ja. But, Ja definitely is a cut above. I like him a lot more than Fox, but I think you're better off if your point is not a go-to scorer, has size, and has other qualities (sort of like Fox, or a Frank, and yes Quickley fits what I think is an easier point to win with).

Ja will be good. He's already really good. But dribbling scoring points, when your best scorer ... it's not the ideal starting point (no pun intended) of great team building.

His passing is overrated. The last two games RJ’s had 5 assists and 5 turnovers. For his career, he averages 2.6 assists and 2.2 turnovers. That sucks.

How dare you

His passing in terms of vision and execution are pretty solid for a scoring wing.

Obviously all of us are pulling for RJ to break out. But I fckin hate when he does this. Here he is still self-stanning his jump shot follow through, even after the ball has bounced off the rim. Why the hell are you still there posing like that? Knox does this too. Am I the only person that can't stand this?

Actually I think his passing is a little better given some of the turds he's been passing to the last 1.1 years. At Duke his passing and decision making was putrid despite having Zion being a gravity well and surrounded by shooters.

This post is from 2006. Bricklayers have been doing this at every level since I finished school. If the coaches don't snap a player out of it, they'll just keep doing it. It's pick up ball idiocy but it's also probably just a habit I don't think RJ is even doing it out of hubris you know?

Yeah, anything can happen. But I'm just looking at the PGs who will age out and then of the year 1,2,3 players who is even close to Ja's level.

Dame, Steph, Kyrie, CP3, Lowry, Kemba even like Jrue Holiday all will age out (Westbrook is already terrible)

So Ja is in a pool with Jamal Murray, Fox, Trae Young, SGA, Brogdon, maybe Herro if they play him there ... ? Again I know Luka is effectively a PG but he's in a different dimension than any of these dudes anyway.

So anyway, I can see (injuries etc.) him easily being the best of that group and very easily being among the 3 best.

Ja did some pretty insane stuff last year, like only 3 players got to the rim more than him. He did that with an average 3 point shot.

Here's Ja vs. Fox in their age 20 seasons. It's not even close. Ja wrecks him in everything.

https://stathead.com/tiny/cH4cZ

Anyway, enough Ja in the thread but I don't think RJ vs. Ja is close at all. This year hopefully RJ closes the gap, with better coaching, not embarrassing shooting and some skill in playmaking.

When you learn how to shoot a lot of people are told to hold the follow-through. While holding the follow-through doesn't actually affect whether the ball goes in or not after its left your hands, it is at least useful in self-determining if your shot is off, why it may be off, etc. My belief is that RJ and Knox do this because they have adjusted their shots recently or are not quite confident there and are still determining what feels right/doesn't feel right. I think once they settle in and are comfortable with their forms they won't feel the need to elongate their follow-through period and they will just play on.

Check out RJ's assist to turnover ratio.

Yes. I would still trade for Cam right now if we could. The Hawks have so many wing/forwards that some just may not develop there. Maybe Frank or DSJ and some 2nd rounders would do it. Knox is really our only true SF. I dont think a move like this would hurt our current chemistry but adds a young player with good potential
I could accept a Frank for Cam swap. But I don't think Cam is any good. He was terroble at Duke. He got lots of playing time to develop in Atlanta last year. He's the same barely connected player he always was.

We already have one Cam. His name is Knox. And he'll probably end up being better anyway

RJ better not be a bust!!
It is too early but we are playing out of top 5 picks so we need RJ to be a cornerstone player.

Do you want a player who can take you to playoffs and possibly championship or do you want someone who doesn't move the needle at all.
