JMAC3 wrote:This might be a bit early for this thread to get started, but just wanted to get a conversation rolling about the possibility of Lonzo coming to the Hornets and playing with LaMelo. Do you think it is a realistic option? Would they play well with each other? How much money is Lonzo going to get offered this summer in free agency?
I am not sure what to think about this, but you would imagine that they will want to play together at some point in their careers and I would not want to risk losing LaMelo. Lonzo is a restricted free agent this offseason after the Pelicans chose to not give him a rookie extension and let him potentially field offers this summer. How much do you think he will get offered?
We have a ton of guards on our team right now, but both Graham and Monk are free agents this summer leaving us really just Ball and Rozier locked into the roster as of now. I am assuming right now, Graham is brought back no matter what, even if it is just a way to sign him and then trade him later on, because his bird rights are such an amazing value. For comparison sakes, here are Lonzo stats from last year vs Graham stats from last year.
Lonzo- 32 mins, 11.8 ppg, 10.9 FGA per game, 40% fg, 37.5% three on 6.3 attempts per game, 51% efg, 1.2 Fta per game, 56.6% from line, 6.1 rebounds, 7 assists 1.4 steals and 0.6 blocks with 3.1 turnovers per game.
Graham- 35 mins, 18.2 ppg, 15.3 FGA per game, 38% fg, 37.3% three on 9.3 attempts per game, 49.5% efg, 3.7 fta per game, 82% from line, 3.4 reb, 7.5 assists, 1 steal, 0.2 blocks and 2.9 turnovers per game.
This would of been a great time to use per 36 numbers, but I did not want to derail thread
I did not want to use this season stats, because both players are slumping and it is a small sample size, but looking at last year it appears they are similar players from a shooting percentage standpoint and passing standpoint. Graham is better at getting to the free throw line and shoots a much better percentage. Graham also is the more electric offensive player shooting the ball nearly 5 more times per game and he has a better assist to turnover rating. Lonzo is the bigger, stronger, more athletic player and that makes him the better defender, but not sure if he and LaMelo would be a great defensive pairing. Lastly, Lonzo turned 23 a few months ago and Graham is turning 26 next month, so it is almost a three year age difference between them.
Also, this doesn't have to be a Graham vs Lonzo thing, just included that for reference. Let me know what you guys think.

Why couldn't Carolina sign Brady?
