Bowser's team says they weren't expecting an attempted breach of the Capitol building. They knew a bunch of bad guys would be there and they prepared for that.

Ok, with the caveat that I know very little about this:
Mayor Bowser is in charge of DC's finest, the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD). They were deployed extensively throughout the DC area in preparation for the right wing terrorist incursion.

The MPD's jurisdiction ends at the Capitol steps. The Capitol Police are feds.

so
1. Bowser's intelligence did not warn of an attempt to breach the Capitol building itself.
2. No matter how well prepared Bowser was, she couldn't do anything once the Capitol Police allowed the rioters onto the Capitol Building grounds.

I believe this tweet is asking for permission to have the DC National Guard, already deployed and sitting just outside the Capitol Bldg, to go onto Federal grounds and help the Capitol Police, and I think that's what was refused. Could very easily be wrong.

Felonious behavior, if true, since it would be very clear that the terrorists would want to kidnap or kill Nancy Pelosi, to a lesser extent possibly Mike Pence. Letting them loiter around in the Capitol Building for hours is criminal negligence.

So since the stormtroopers brought out for the BLM protests were on the capitol steps, those have to be feds over whom Bowser had no jurisdiction.

Any lack of preparation on the Capitol Police's part is clearly a fed responsibility, not a Bowser one.

Looking at it from the rest of the world's POV, it seems clear that Donald Trump was attempting a coup by way of instigating & supporting yesterday's insurrection.

Especially since Trump & the Defense Secretary were asked by the Governor of MD if he could send Maryland Guard troops -- & their phoned requests were never answered.

Best would be for Trump to be removed from office forthwith. Before he can pardon himself, btw!

& then he should be arrested & prosecuted for treason.

Note that Trump's cabinet members resigning today are most likely getting themselves out of having to stand up for the country via the 25th amendment.
