This is from December 29th

Kemba Walker still doesn’t have a timeline to return to Celtics’ lineup as he recovers from a stem-cell injection in his left knee.

Walker received the experimental treatment in early October. Prior to the season, he told reporters the injection “definitely calmed my knee down a lot.”

Brad Stevens, asked about Walker’s progress prior to Boston’s game against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, said the team’s goal is to keep Walker available long-term rather than just getting him back as soon as possible.

“No update that I’ve received, other than that he’s progressing,” Stevens said. “I think we’ll have a better idea or a big picture update in the next week sometime — as we thought, right around the turn of the new year. He won’t be back anytime soon. Certainly we’re hopeful to get him back as soon as possible, but we want to make sure that when we do it’s for good. That’s the most critical thing from our standpoint.”

“There’s no rush,” Walker said. “There’s no rush on my end. I’m coming back when I need to come back, and when I’m feeling good to play. So that’s it. This is, I haven’t really been a guy who has been hurt over the course of my career. So, this sucks, but I also love the game of basketball, and I want to play at a high level in front of the fans who come to watch this game. So I want to be at my best.

“The last time in the playoffs, I wasn’t at my best, and that sucked. I don’t want to be that way no more.”

Hopefully we get an update soon. I'm thinking mid to late Feb at the earliest. Early March more likely.

Do you know exactly what the health and safety protocols are? I think the players have to sit out a week if they came in contact with someone who tested positive.... so if Thompson and the Williams's aren't able to play tonight I assume they won't be able to play Sunday against Miami and probably not against Chicago on the 12th or Orlando on the 13th. Please tell me I'm wrong.

Shouldn't we have an update on Kemba's recovery? The 3 month period after the injection has ended and there was supposed to be an evaluation the first week of January

...expect to see a lot of Semi as Stevens' solution to plug the gaps with a Rockets' like ultra-small lineup. Luckily the schedule isn't too rough for the next seven days.

Am I the only one who likes seeing these bizarre lineups? Sucks that players are injured or in covid protocol or whatever, but to get a chance to play Edwards, Waters, Nesmith, Fall actual minutes is pretty great. Plus it happens against a trash team so Celtics should still be favored.

I'm looking forward to it. They need playing time.
We ain't got no G-League team this year, either.

Per the Celtics, the team will be without their battery of big men against the Wizards tonight and the following week

Earlier in the morning, The Athletic’s Shams Charania reported that Carsen Edwards was included in the group, but he has since been removed from the injury report.

Robert Williams has tested positive for COVID-19, but is asymptomatic per The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach. Yesterday, teams were required to wear proximity sensors to aid in off court contact tracing; the bracelets do not track location, but proximity and location to others wearing sensors. Per the Boston Herald’s Mark Murphy, Grant Williams and Thompson sat next to Robert Williams on the bench for “at least fifteen minutes” “wearing masks” which automatically triggers the 7-day quarantine.

We are indeed without those guys for a whole week. Well ****. Gonna be tough to without Thompson and Rob especially against Miami and Orlando (if they are still playing well w/o Fultz) but hopefully this gets Brad out of the 2 big lineup. The NBA's covid protocols are kind of odd. Seems there should be different policies for guys who have covid vs. those who don't.

Team probably should impose a "same-position players should sit far from each other" policy.

EDIT: ...and a no-one-sit-anywhere-near-Jayson-and-Jaylen rule.

Can we petition the league to allow Theis to use TT/RW/GW's fouls? Seems like a win-win. Refs get to call fouls on Theis with abandon (even more so than usual) and Theis maybe makes it thru the 3rd quarter.
