Re: Injuries, 2020-21: Safety = Thompson, G. & R. Williams; Teague (L.Ankle); Kemba; Langford

Does the league realize how devoid of logic its COVID protocol is?

- Grant and Tristan have to quarantine for a week because they sat, with masks on, near Robert Williams on the bench
- The rest of the Celtics and Heat, who played just as close to Williams on the court WITHOUT masks on, don't have to quarantine?
- Ditto the entire Wizards and Sixers team that played on the court with Seth Curry the night before he tested positive?

There shouldn't even be a game tonight.

Maybe we can play Teague at the 4 tonight. Get him some reps for when Kemba comes back and he's 4th on the depth chart at PG.

Glad I’m not the only one who saw how crazy this is. I’ll add that the entire team was likely on the plane home from Miami without masks on.

Looks like they’re pretty optimistic about his status. He’d be feeling better than ever in a Boston uniform. I know, PR etc, but I kinda believe it this time.

Snailed it!

Kemba Walker still doesn’t have a timeline to return to Celtics’ lineup as he recovers from a stem-cell injection in his left knee.

Walker received the experimental treatment in early October. Prior to the season, he told reporters the injection “definitely calmed my knee down a lot.”

Brad Stevens, asked about Walker’s progress prior to Boston’s game against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday, said the team’s goal is to keep Walker available long-term rather than just getting him back as soon as possible.

“No update that I’ve received, other than that he’s progressing,” Stevens said. “I think we’ll have a better idea or a big picture update in the next week sometime — as we thought, right around the turn of the new year. He won’t be back anytime soon. Certainly we’re hopeful to get him back as soon as possible, but we want to make sure that when we do it’s for good. That’s the most critical thing from our standpoint.”

“There’s no rush,” Walker said. “There’s no rush on my end. I’m coming back when I need to come back, and when I’m feeling good to play. So that’s it. This is, I haven’t really been a guy who has been hurt over the course of my career. So, this sucks, but I also love the game of basketball, and I want to play at a high level in front of the fans who come to watch this game. So I want to be at my best.

“The last time in the playoffs, I wasn’t at my best, and that sucked. I don’t want to be that way no more.”

Hopefully we get an update soon. I'm thinking mid to late Feb at the earliest. Early March more likely.

There's always two ways to interpret these things.

- It's PR and his health is going to be a constant problem moving forward.

- This was a reasonable time to get him some rest and be over-cautious so he'd be good to go moving forward, but he totally would have been playing if we'd been in a playoff push.

I'm trying not to get my hopes up, but, it would be pretty nice if, just this once, it was the latter.

Good thing everybody likes Tatum, so that there won't be much blowback for his contact with Beal.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".
