no need to fight between mitch & randle. we have a very good frontcourt and a bad backcourt. this game is not really a revelation.

We'd be so much better with him at PG than Payton.
Yup, at least we'd be playing real NBA basketball now, win or lose.
The Knicks front office dropped the ball two off-seasons in a row.
Could've signed Brogdon, they passed. Could've overpaid for FVV, they passed. I was in favor of signing D-Lo a year ago, not looking good defensively but it's not like Payton is stopping anybody. And now we'll enter another off-season with money to spend except there aren't any quality guards in free agency, besides a 35 year old Lowry.
The Knicks are poorly constructed, and they keep doubling down on their mistakes. How Payton is our starting point guard is a travesty. I'll never stop giving Leon Rose sh*t for that, because we're paying the price every night I spend my time watching this team.

16 pts!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just really having his way in the paint tonight
Shooting below 50% at the rim is good, right?
this is the first team in a while they just went under every screen on payton and dared him too shoot. They always kept a defender in between him and the rim. And Payton struggled. Will be surprised if we don't see more teams just go under and dare him too shoot outside the paint.

thibs says he went small to generate more offense and we've done it in the past and got good results (we haven't). he also said mitch wasn't feeling well and that factored into it. said it didn't work this time. kind of admitted he should have stayed with mitch.

Facts. They were our best players tonight. Payton and RJ shot us out of the game.

Re: PG: Knicks-Thunder
Really bad loss. We were better than that team and had them on the ropes in the 1st half and let them off the hook. You could tell the Thunder were ready to quit and we didnt take advantage and let Shai get into a rythym.
Refs were an absolute chit show seemingly targeting Randle for whatever reason all night. Which sucks because he was our only decent player all night.
RJ forced some but i still think he was fine overall especially defensively. He just cant function with Payton and Bullock is just meh. Need Burks back ASAP. We can only survive without reliable shooting for so long...
PG play was such a tire fire tonight. The worst part about Elf is when its not good its REALLY not good. Its funny the perception from non Knicks focused media members around Elf is that hes some pass first pg but hes basically poor man westbrook out there. Thats how he functions and if hes not finishing hes practically useless. Unfortunately, Quick was just as bad tonight and like i said in preseason until he learns how to take contact at the rim hes going to limit himself as a player. He also weirdly is gun shy about shooting. I suspect it has to do with his low release and knowing he needs extra space to get it off. I like his defensive effort overall though and his instincts on offense are mostly good. Definitely some technical things to clean up but he will be a good rotation player at most.
Thibs has been mostly flawless this year but i did not agree with his 4th quarter rotation at all tonight. Clearly Elf and Quick didnt have it so why play either of them at all? Put Rivers at PG and you HAVE TO HAVE Mitch out there IMO. Thunder just ate in the paint whenever he wasnt in there. And i get that he wanted Julius at C for more spacing but you basically punt on spacing when you have Elf out there anyway... so go all in on getting stops and attacking. Straddling the line is only going to get you burnt when teams can easily put Elf and Randle in the P&R with no help from Mitch.
This loss sucked because i felt the better team lost tonight and we have a tough one against a pretty desperate Denver team coming up. Feels imperative that we should have banked a win tonight against a talent deficient team like the Thunder.

I'm glad he admitted that at least. Would have been alarming if he didn't

Mitch should have played down the stretch, but we would have lost this one anyway. Too many off nights. We couldn’t even hit free throws.

Re: PG: Knicks-Thunder
OKC didn't exactly shoot well from 3 either but what you saw was they had bigs that can stretch the floor. Robinson was ineffective because he couldn't defend Horford on the perimeter.
Knicks don't really have a stretch big that could help with the spacing so every time you see Payton, RJ, Randle drive to the basket there is a collapsing defense down there every time. There is no center on the roster that can pull the opposing center out to even 15 feet let alone to the 3 point line. It's why Thibs had to try Randle at the 5 again because the spacing is just bad but Randle is not really a floor spacer either, he still likes to pass up open 3s for drives to the rim.
It is what it is, bench wasn't much help this game either, Quickly was bad.
