Indiana are essentially playing 2 Centers with Sabonis and Turner, there's no room in the paint at all.

But we are exploiting them on the outside and Ayton has held his own contesting shots against them.

Here comes our arch enemy, the zone defense.

Absolutely.

He probably is tired, and this is when we go again to be in a great physical condition. He is just 22 and looks OLD on the court tonight.

Yeah, that was my guess...he is more impacted by a b2b, particularly early in the season on the road with earlier games...and coming off an OT game. Last night he was solid on offense other than that missed layup....and decent on defense..though not quite as good as usual.

He is very bad on both sides tonight, but he is getting double and triple teamed too...it gives us lots of wide open 3s and we are fine if we hit them and it doesn't really matter if he scores.

Unfortunately, way say this about every full game. He has a long way to go. Imagine how good our team would be if he was a consistent productive player.

I don't....I call it how I see it. To me he is much improved on defense and is facing more double and triple teams on offense, which is why we have open 3s.

Some of you hate every game of his, but there are others who think otherwise....but they were probably more concerned about defense than offense which is far more important for your C in this day and age.

Why can't Ayton play more like Sabonis?

Starters are playing well together! That’s a good sign.

We cant even take advantage of switches between our terrible entry passing and DA's inability so seal off the defender.

Damn lol hopefully in a year or two Ayton will be knocking down 3s like Turner just did. If he's gonna be a finesse guy on offense I don't want him only taking those mid range turn around fades. Rather they just be spot up 3s.

I don't know he was awful last night. He is a good defensive player but he is absolutely awful offensively, not what people thought coming out of college.

Might be a hot take, but I don't even think his defense is that good. His ability to switch and play the perimeter is definitely valuable for a center, but his help side and non-switch pick and roll defense still have a long way to go. He also has the worst net rating and defensive rating of rotation players so far this year.

Relying on those ratings, do you really believe CP3, Crowder and Ayton are our worst defensive players in the rotation? This is more of a combination of a small sample size and a tough schedule vs teams with quality starters.

Do you think his help defense is worse than last year?

It is all bad tonight though but I think he has made significant strides on defense since coming into the league.

Great effort!
Ayton with a couple of nice defensive plays.
Crowder is a warrior.

Sabonis with 16 rebounds what an amazing player. Wish we had him as our 4 we'd be a contender immediately.

Suns might play the Wizards on Monday without Thomas Bryant and Bradley Beal, this game is huge to start a winning streak.

We're playing a heck of a game, we've reeled in their offense with added intensity and our 'big 3' are finding ways to make shots.

DA isn't that good of a defender. His natural length from being 7'1 gives the impressions he's good, but his defensive instincts, agility, and sideways movement all suck but are somewhat hidden be his ability to twist his hips and reach.

This isn't factoring in his desire to avoid contact at all costs.
