Why the hell did Ish throw the ball into the post to Rui when they needed a 3.

F**** Brooks. Look how Matthews and Deni are playing today not having to defer to the “stars”

am I reading this correctly? Miami out rebounded us 61-39 but took 6 less shots?

Looking like the Washington Football Team will also lose.
Bye bye Beal.

Welp. Good effort. I think good lesson in just not hugging dudes after or before the game. Not necessary in these times. Matthews earned time. Bertans was terrible. Defense was extremely confused probably because they weren't used to playing with each other. Troy Brown needs to play. Forget Bonga. Matthews at the backup 2. Looks like we'll have RoLo and Wagner at center for awhile. Maybe time to add another big from the G-League if TB is going to be out for awhile, which appears is going to be the case.

Saw that Deni hung his head or was just tired at the end. I like the fact that he kept shooting after having a rough third quarter. Rui continues to play and shoot well, save for that three-point shot. He can be special once he starts making that.

We had only 6 turnovers. I wonder why.

Still doesn't add up though.

Doesn't seem possible, does it?

They committed 10 more turnovers than us, but that doesn't explain everything.

Incidentally, we committed just 6 turnovers on the night. That's what having competent, under-control, PG play can do for you. Westbrook, are you listening?

We might also see a bit more of Hachimura at center. That could open up some room for Bonga, but only if we had a coach that didn't inexplicably hate him.

Fun to watch Deni and Mathews tonight. Wagner also had a pretty solid game. Good effort against one of the best teams in the league. It was nice to see some ball movement for once.

they probably win that game if Bonga played. It was nice to see Brown Jr have a good active game.

Rebounding. That's the one thing you miss without Westbrook and Bryant in the lineup. Rui and Bertans are not exactly Dennis Rodman in his prime.

One last observation I want to add, Deni has actual vision. He had one ridiculous pass in the pick and roll in which he was moving fully downhill towards the rim and turned to throw the ball directly backwards out to Brown Jr for an open 3. It was nice to see him knockdown that isolation stepback 3 off the dribble as well. He has real triple double potential. We hit a home run for once.

Rui at center might be ok against a second-unit center. Kind of like Precious tonight, who is not very big. So, sure Bonga could get some run, but while he's a good defender, he doesn't show me much of a motor. Not a great athlete. Maybe he's still growing. Hell, he'll have to play at some point the way guys are going out with COVID or contact tracing.

I agree with Brooks about one thing. You can't play everybody. A 12-man rotation ain't going to work. I'd rather play Brown over Bonga, but it's not like you are choosing Kawhi or KD. You can't just play defensive guys that can't or won't shoot. Bench Jerome Robinson. I'm fine. Bench Neto or Ish? Both bring something to the table. Ish brings quickness and pace and Neto defends better. Both will play when Russ sits. With Bryant out, I'm ok with :
PG Westbrook/Neto/Ish
SG Beal/Matthews
SF Deni/Troy
PF Rui/Bertans
C Rolo/Wagner

It was really good to see Troy Brown play well in the 2nd half after scoring goose egg in the first.

I wouldn’t mind Rui starting at the 5 while Bryant is out. Get Bonga back in the starting lineup.

Some of these guys that rarely play lack confidence. At least Brooks stuck with him. He needs to find an identity on offense other than create for others.

Also agree that the lack of turnovers and the better ball movement was nice to see. Russ sees that. He coaches guys. But he doesn't practice what he preaches. He can coach every young guy, but he doesn't always execute. Maybe it's the fact that he can't explode off that leg anymore. His offensive game is about exploding to the cup and now he's just a jumpshooter. Doesn't excuse the crappy decisions he makes and terrible shots, which are basically like turnovers.
