Maverick Test Positive For Covid

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sat Jan 9, 2021 12:29 am

The Mavericks reportedly had a player test positive for COVID-19 on Friday, and both he and two other players didn't travel when the team left Denver.

The other two players exposed to COVID-19 have both tested negative "and are expected to remain so," according to Shams Charania of The Athletic. It's unclear which players are involved but it won't take long to find out, since the Mavs are due to host the Magic on Saturday.

That's essentially 3 starters out if you add KP to the list of players being out. Damn.

This protocol looks a joke to me. Players are playing together, being in the court the same time, listening to the coach in timeouts...and somehow some can play and others not.

Mavs have shut down their practice facility. I expect more players to be out soon. We'll be similar to the Sixers who only had seven players suit up today. One silver lining in all this is better now, than have starters missing games in the playoffs.

Everything about this is a joke. I bet the NBA will shut down if involved the Lakers. SMH.

Rachel Nichols said on The Jump that NBA scientists said that NBA players playing in games together does not constitute as close contact therefore do not need quarantine.

This could quickly derail their entire season. We don't know when Mavs will have the entire team back together on the court because this could just go on and on and on. One player goes into isolation for 10 days, next day other guy etc... Health comes first but still, at the end of this week it could as well be Luka +4 janitors.

I take this season as it is. Biggest reason i want us to get very high in the standings is so knicks get a crap pick. But as it is this season any team can miss the po by unluck. It might be time to move the team out of dallas, some remote place, and just fly to and from games. It will suck for the players but they should be able to live with it til the vaccine is handed out

It really is difficult decision for Nba. If they stop season now, it will be months before they can come back. This season won't be regular for sure. There will be big differences between clubs. It's not only about your players, but when you play infected teams. Some will be very lucky, some not.

I wouldn't stop the season, but I think they should set up plans to transition back to the bubble. There are no fans in the stadium anyway. They are just playing for TV revenue. Might as well make it safe and stable.

No one is going in the bubble for half a year. And you will need bubble for 30 teams.

I think best thing to do right now would be to stop for like 14 days, let players "heal" and teams regroup and then continue. But obviously same thing could just be happening over and over again. I have no clue how they will handle this.

Maxi tested positive means that any number of personel can be infected. So in theory, Mavs won't even have enough eligible players in 2 days.

Its very clear the the players don't want a bubble.

Boston, Philly, Dallas, Chicago off the top of my head are the only teams with major issues right now. Its going to likely take several more for a shut down and I'm sure it will be a carousel of teams all year.

With the Mavs Practice Facility officially being shut down (hopefully not for 14 days), ya'll better hope Luka has a treadmill at home or he's coming back next game 10 lbs heavier. LMAO. Lying on his couch playing video games without working out will be a bummer.
