There for the taking? Where is your proof Charlotte would made a reasonable trade with us? The top 3 had no incentive to trade down.

Minnesota and Golden State were loud and clear they were open for business. Where have you been?

Can’t speak accurately for Charlotte. The only rumors were they weren’t enamored with Ball (they wanted Wiseman) but would take him if he fell.

Inform me on the “reasonable” trades they were open to. They were open for business if they could fleece some team. They were so open that no one traded up despite this being a considered a 3 player draft..

They didn’t want the flashy YouTube star and preferred the sweet flower delivery guy.

Now Ball is all over Sportscenter Top 10’s and the NBA record books and PW plays softer than a pile of tulip petals. Who would have guessed?

Haha, sorry this is just pure trolling on a Saturday night.

Getting Ball would be the fleecing.

This is like the first result on Google, I’m not your research assistant. But you know this.

“Executives around the NBA say the Timberwolves prefer to trade down or out of this pick to bring in a win-now player to help Karl-Anthony Towns and D’Angelo Russell”.

Ultimately someone was going to moved pr bemched if LaMelo had any kind of pulse this year.

He has kicked in alot earlier than people expected. So Graham or Rozier would only be keeping their spot warm for Melo. Its probably going to be Graham.

Seems that the rooks had a really good day today. Alot of them had career games. Shows this rookie class has something to say about it being a weak draft.

People kept saying it was weak because everyone wanted ready made super stars from day 1.
Outside of a few outliers, history shows the draft produces roughly the same amount of talent every year.

I love the Williams pick, and I wouldn't trade him for Ball straight up. We need defense, badly. I think Williams will be a better pro-he is being groomed slowly now

Are there still people here who believe LaMelo would have been a second round pick if his last name wasn't Ball?

The people who say LaMelo can't defend obviously haven't been watching his NBA games. He's a pest with great hands and incredible anticipatory instincts - and he regulary defends at the point of attack, which is super hard for a rookie as it is.

As I said recently, I'm gladly eating my crow on LaMelo right now. He looks like a totally different player than the one we saw in high school and even overseas. In fact, I'm shocked. Can't remember a single rookie with this kind of a level-up when they get to the League. In a redraft, he'd easily go #1 now. I don't know if he's able to keep this up, but that's the same question we have to ask about every rookie doing well right out the gates.

The fact that some people here praise PWill as a defensive prodigy or something - hey, he "held" LeBron to 28/7/7 - and then turn around and say LaMelo is bad on that side of the ball is homerism at its worst. It's a fact that Ball is having 10 times the effect of Patrick on his team, and its not just because he's a ballhandler. FFS, he's averaging the same number of offensive rebounds per 36 as Wendell Carter.

Boy was I wrong. Melo is already way better than Lonzo. Was fun to see him dominate Trae Young too.

Very impressive. The guy reminds me more of Luka than he does of his older brother. He's one of the very few rookies where during his first month of the season, you can already say, "Yeah OK this guy will be a baller."

Melo is similar to Luka in that they both need to keep their outside shooting respectable. That's the key to everything. So far, Ball is hitting 35.6% from the perimeter, which is surprisingly good for a guy who was supposed to have a totally broken shot - and especially considering he's taking over 4 per game, with many of them being contested.

Besides his general high-motor play and effort, the thing that's shocked me the most about LaMelo is his ability to get to the lane at will. I did not see this coming. Part of that is due to his OK outside shooting so far, but he's also incredibly crafty with hesitations, changes of direction and spin moves. Lots of young point guards have that stuff in their toolkit in college, but the way it's immediately translated in the NBA for Ball is really impressive. Every backcourt defender in the League is looking to pick his pocket, but they haven't had much success so far. LaMelo's turnovers have mostly been caused by risky passes.

Borrego has been smart about managing his role and PT. Ball is so confident that given too much freedom, he can cross the line into recklessness. I think it's good he hasn't started so far. But everyone sees he's already by far the best PG on that team.

So many season ending injuries already, not to mention these various quarantine periods taking out 4+ players for 2+ weeks at a time. By the end of this season, the team that can stay the healthiest will make it all the way.

NBA fan logic we need to trade one of two best players because (Player X) one needs to shine more.

Hm, Celtics have so many Covid and injury cases that their game got postponed. I wonder if the Bulls even play them this Tue.

I'm hoping the game is still on. We can steal a win with our players coming back while celts have a shortened rotation
