Would be a hell of a lineup.
We don’t have anywhere close to the assets needed without Khris included.
Or even with Khris included.

Nah, with Khris we could put together a competitive offer. Beal is really good but we’re not talking top 10 or even top 15 guy here.

One would think we offered a similar offer for Beal that we gave for Jrue. All reports are Washington wasn't willing to listen on him. Once we blew our wad on Jrue there just isn't much left to offer in a trade for any star level player.

Totally fine with guys taking a half season off when the team is doomed like Paul Pierce would sometimes do in the pre KG and Ray days. It's been years though since Beal even pretended to try and play D. I doubt that's a switch that's getting flicked at any point.

Khris has been slightly more valuable than Beal this year.

Lets just talk Marvin out of retirement. That would seem to solve a big problem.

I think the switch gets flipped back on when the team stops relying on him so heavily on offense. They added Westbrook and yet Beal is still a bigger part of the offense than he was last season.

We will miss his defense for sure though
Meh... tough in the post yes but slow footed getting to shooters which is what we needed him for most often.
If you're late getting back to the shooter a pump fake Fcks you up worse also. With him and Middleton out there it was too much slow... Miami's back court looked like they were fast forward against slow motion. In the rare chance we are losing because Donte or Forbes are getting posted to death - that's why we got Craig.
He's a good matchup against forwards like Butler.
As for Craig, feel like he's not good enough offensively to play any minutes in the playoffs.

Craig played 20 minutes/game in the playoffs the last two seasons with Denver, so I’m guessing you’re wrong.

Denver's forwards are terrible at defending, so he kind of had to for them.

Can someone please help me understand DJ Wilson's role on this team? It is honestly more confusing to me than Pat. He has a decent chunk of money on his deal, but just doesn't play...when he does...he isn't horrible, but....just don't get it. Any insight would be helpful.

I'm not the only one who thinks it's a trash idea. Stop suggesting we trot out traditional SF's and new age stretch fours that stand at 6'8 as some type of solution at the 5. Thaddeus Young, the rim protector, he of a career average of .4 blocks per contest. It's like you've never even seen the guys you're suggesting play the game.
I'm not really on the "dump Brook" bandwagon but wouldn't the point be to move Giannis into the middle?
Then Giannis would be at the five. You wouldn't be advocating for guys like Harrison Barnes, Thaddeus Young, and Luke Kornet to play the 5 as if they would solve issues for us. Therein lies the difference. He's basically looking at Daniel Theis and just picking random 6'8 guys who can hit the three and expecting them to do the same things on the defensive end. That's, obviously, not how things work.
Portis was primarily a 4 before he got here and averages 0.3 blocks per game for his career. Yet he's playing center for us, and has outperformed Brook so far.
Markieff Morris started at center in the Finals for the team that won the championship...
I'll admit the Barnes thing was a stretch but you're being closed minded.

Portis is a big who plays like a big and always has been. I'm not being closed minded, I'm familiar with these guys' games. You aren't.

Ok fair enough...
What specifically would Young have problems with as a small ball center. Obviously against guys like Embiid, he would get his lunch handed to him. But in certain matchups like against Adebayo, wouldn't he be able to hold his own?

Well for me, Wilson's role on this team is a stretch 4 and a good defender and goes after rebounds. It boogles my mind that Thanasis is ahead of Wilson for PT, Thanasis looked so awful in the Cavs game and should not be playing in games unless it's a blowout. Wilson is a better player than Thanasis.

I don't think the Bucks that fit all the big contracts under the salary cap. I think it'd be nice if we can trade Holiday and Forbes for Beal.

He lacks the strength to compete with a guy like Adebayo or pretty much any center across the league. It's a matchup teams would immediately target. It doesn't take Embiid, you take any big in the NBA, and they'll be able to push him around. He doesn't provide any rim protection. The Pacers gave it a shot in 2018 during stretches and the results were catastrophic around the rim. Why? Because Thaddeus Young is a natural small forward, and many natural small forwards, have transitioned into stretch fours in an era of pace and space. Natural power forwards, pre pace and space, many of those guys can play center in pace and space though not all. You're looking at a two position jump under normal circumstances. Those don't end well in most cases.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions
Wilson offensively is a small forward in a big man's body. Too soft to finish strong at the rim. Mediocre rebounder. Defensively he is mobile for a big but gets beat from guards.
Thanasis is a power forward in a small forward body. Both offensively and defensively. Good rebounder. Can also guard wings.
Both of them have deficiencies. Wilson needs to show some big man toughness and Thanasis needs to play within his limited abilities.
Both of them can be useful in 5min stretches in the playoffs if they overcome their limitations. Wilson for switching lineups. Thanasis to throw to any wing playmaker as a man to man shadow just to frustrate him.
This is the time of the year to test them and see what we have (or exhibit them a bit for other teams). But they have completely different play styles. I don't think DJ isn't playing because of Thanasis. If he could bring the same energy and rebounding he would be in the rotation. Thanasis was used as a spark from the bench to keep the other players interested in the game. Cannot think of anything more.

DJW averages 9.5 rebounds/36, Thanasis just 6.6 rebounds/36. Thanasis can't guard anyone, he just fouls.
Something landed DJW in the doghouse, but hopefully they can get past it, because we need him on the floor.
